Would these be good to grow around a manmade pond as the soil is dry

Yes, wildflower mixes are very resilient. Always good to water them as they are growing, though.

As it says easy sow, can you just throw these on an area or do they still need to be planted under soil?

I just scattered handfuls across a patch of (not very well) prepared soil (raked over), and raked them into the soil. Watered and left. Unfortunately the weather and work stopped me digging over the patch to remove weed and nettle roots, but the flowers have grown and have attracted admiring comments. Just need to keep wedding out unwanted plants.

when do you sew the mini meadow

Says spring or autumn on the pack but I just put some seeds in a large pot beginning of July and they have popped up already! :)
