Great if you don't require a full length safety rail
I needed this for my mother who recently fell out of bed an was injured. Although it DOES help for her getting out of bed, I really wanted a deterrent from her falling without being too cumbersome. It fit easily between mattress and box spring, took 2 minutes to install with the strap that goes around the opposite side of the bedrail. It comes with a screw to affix it, but I didn't want this "permanently" attached--for bed changing and when she gets in and out of bed. I just took the hex key and stick it in where the screw goes, that holds it in place and makes it easy to take on & off. That MAY NOT BE SAFE in some situations so please don't mimic what we've done unless it would be safe in your situation. Since this is working I may just get a hitch pin so it can't ever slide out on its own.Overall it doesn't block her vision from the TV. It's height adjustable, very sturdy, and works great if you don't need a full length bedrail. We like the pocket that is attached so it makes a solid surface that you couldn't accidentally get your arm caught in it when sleeping. I only wish it had a spring loaded pin to take on & off easier, but we remedied that quickly.

Works exactly as described. A good safety producet
I purchased for an elderly friend whose shoulder pain and stiffness make it difficult for them to easily get out of bed. After using it one morning they reported it worked perfectly and made it easier to sit up. Also liked having the mesh pockets for their cell phone and tv remote so they don't get lost in the covers. I installed it and it worked great sliding the platform under the mattress and is nice and stableThis one cost about $20.00 less than one I purchased last fall from a storefront medical supply house for a family member recovering from spinal fusion surgery. It made all the difference in him being able to raise himself to sitting position and then to stand without assistance. He used it for over 4 months and was very grateful to have the independence and safety it provided. Good quality materials and easy to install between mattress and boxspring. Less risk of getting caught on a wider bed rail.I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one for anyone needing a solution for difficulty in getting to sitting and standing position when getting out of bed. Great invention.

Very sturdy
Bought this for my disabled husband who has slipped and fell off the bed a few times. So I searched for something we can use and saw this here. Bought it and attached on the bed and he has not fallen ever since. Once connected to the bed properly, it has not moved from its position. Mind you my husband is 270lbs but this thing helps to get himself up specially at night when he needs to use the bathroom. I highly recommend this item for anyone who is physically limited and has a hard time getting up from bed by themselves.

Handy and Hardy
We were recommended to get a bed cane (something we never had heard of) for my dad, by a nursing agency. He needed something to help him get out of bed and hopefully something that would help him not fall out of bed. We were able to install, but because it goes under the bed to both sides, it easier to do with two people. The device comes with its own wrench to make adjustments. My husband and I were able to make adjustments easily, but my mom was not strong enough. The device has worked well, but it is not large enough to keep him from falling out of bed. On the other hand, it is in a good spot to give him something to pull up on. I am in between this device and a larger bed rail; however, if the device we chose was any longer, it might get in the way of him being able to get out of bed when he needs to as he can still do that. I would suggest if the person needed a larger device to keep them in bed, a longer rail might work better.

Finally, a well made, sturdy, stable product with great instructions and everything as advertised!
Came quickly and included beautifully illustrated, easy to follow instructions in perfect English. Minimal assembly with included tool. Took less than 15 minutes including solving one problem. We have a "sleigh" style bed frame with sideboards. The shape of the sideboards required us to set the BedCane INSIDE it not ON it. See pictures 1 and 2. It was easier the get the straps under the mattress and attached to the opposite sideboard of our king size bed than expected and there was plenty of strap to get the job done. We just slide the strap to the head of the bed, tucked it in a bit, went to the opposite side and pulled. It straightened out from the end of the BedCane base and was ready to attach to the sideboard (Picture 3)I can't say enough about the detail of the instructions and illustrations. It is pretty intuitive, but it helps to know your thinking matches that of the manufacturer. It is sturdy and works as advertised. My husband feels completely confident in pulling on it to roll over and sit up in bed as well as getting into bed. That thing isn't going anywhere!Literature says it will accomodate 300 lbs. So far it seems extremely sturdy and stable. I would like to see some less mobile, bigger people using the device in the product videos as well as video with someone assisting. The current models are "elderly" but not near as immobile as my husband. I someone couldn't bend their knees at all or had very little bending ability it would be much harder to use the BedCane. It has helped the ability to roll over in bed and move toward the edge of the bed to sit up. That is a lot of pulling with a 6', 260lb man and it does the job without slipping or wobbling at all.
