Do not buy! Whirlpool can not/will not make repairs.
So we buy this frig thinking that it could produce enough ice for a 2 person family. We have owned this since Oct 9 2013. We have had a repairman out four times to make the icemaker work. It has NEVER filled up the ice bin since we have owned it. Not even once. We were gone for 4 days in December. Nope, didn't fill the bin even when not in use. We have had to buy a separate ice maker. The repairman has said that it's junk but I can't tell you that as we don't want to get him in trouble. I received a call from Whirlpool today and was told, sorry it's working as designed. That's the problem, it apparently is a poor design. Whirlpool refuses to correct the problem so we are stuck. This frig has a setting called fast ice. Does nothing. It doesn't make ice any faster. We paid $2599.00 for what we were lead to believe was a top of the line refrigerator. It is not! We were, in my opinion, deceived by Whirlpool. As I said we are a two person family. We are in our late 60's. We are not filling ice chests. We only use it for cold drinks and it can't keep up with what I would call light to moderate use. Ice maker is junk! Beware of this product.

Awesome fridge.
I have this fridge and my ice-maker works great. Either they fixed the issue, or the last reviewer got a lemon. Had it for 1 month now and love it. Great refrigerator.

Worst refrigerator ever.
This is without a doubt the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. Every 6 to 8 months it has to be emptied and defrosted. The evaporator coil (located behind the convenience drawer) gets a solid sheet of ice build-up and whenever that occurs many of the contents in the refrigerator and the freezer are ruined. We have a 2nd refrigerator (different brand) in the pantry that we pre-cool things prior to placing in the Whirlpool. We try hard to limit what we use this refrigerator for, and how often we use it. This model would be a disaster for a large family with a lot of daily use.The only good thing I can say about this annoying and all day project is that it makes it easy to clean the shelves and drawers. If I wasn't retired and now having tons of extra time, I would be livid. In fact I would probably scrap it out and get a more dependable refrigerator.

Leaky and "bad design" per Whirlpool repairman
Bought this from a big box store but wanted to write a review here. Bought in Nov of 2014. It's pretty quiet and seems to be working OK until July 2015. Water started dripping from the top of the fridge (that's where the ice maker is). Water accumulated under the ice bucket and turned to ice. The ice in the bucket was getting wet so the ice was just one huge hunk of ice. Called Whirlpool since it was still under warranty (only 7 months old) and they sent someone out to look at it. He called me on his way here and asked me what the model was. I told him on the phone and he said, "Oh yea, I know what the problem is. It's a bad design and Whirlpool doesn't have a fix for it yet so we just keep replacing the ice-makers with the same ones that are having problems until they come up with a permanent fix. I will replace yours but you will probably be calling again within the year with the same problem" He came in, replaced the ice maker and everything was fine until this week (9/2015, 2 months after the first fix). It's leaking again just like before. Today is Sunday. Going to call tomorrow for repair again. If Whirlpool is not going to come up with a permanent fix for this problem, they need to give me a new fridge that doesn't have these issues. Not a happy camper!

Do not buy!
I did not buy this via Amazon, rather via a big box retailer, but it is without a doubt the worst appliance i've ever owned and having had Whirlpool appliances for many years a serious indication of declining quality. I've had this since Jan 2018 and had the same issues 4 or five times, namely the freezer compartment light fails and the also for some strange reason the fridge ceiling lights fail. It happened again today, some 15 months after the last time it failed. I honestly have to say this having bought a whirlpool oven shortly after this and having had issues with that also DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS!

Several problems right out of the box!
First refrigerator had ice buildup on the ice maker but the ice maker was inoperable and moisture buildup on the interior of the ceiling that dropped onto the shelves. The second refrigerator had a water leak that would not go away after several repairs and, finally, the correct part (a reservoir) is not in Whirlpool's parts inventory so the correct part cannot be ordered. So a bowl sits in the refrigerator catching water....and taking up space. Come on Whirlpool....this will be the last item we buy from you. If it goes back, it will be replaced with a different brand. A pity since the wife likes it but I am NOT brand loyal-I go for quality; something this model lacks.

Buyer beware!
Brought this refrigerator in 2014. Just recently the defrost thermistor, evaporator fan/motor had to be replaced ( due to faulty motor)- load whirling grinding noise. After a week the refrigerator section was not cooling. Service people came out again and replaced the second evaporator fan motor that circulates air from freezer compartment up to refrigerator. 500 Dollars later. Problem still not fixed. We had a Kenmore that lasted 20 years before buying this piece of junk. I will never buy a whirlpool ever again.

Never again!
Three repairs is 3 years and lost everything in refrigerator twice! Whirlpool will never get my money again!
