Lew'sAmerican Hero 400 6.2:1 Spinning Reel Clam, Black

For around 30 I think this is a good deal of a fast speed spinning reel. This reel is great when you are free swimming live bait or are working with soft plastics where you need to reel in line quickly. This reel could reel in line too quickly for some people that are less experienced and aware of retrieval speeds. I did see some of the critical reviews and it does appear that there are some quality control issues. I have two of these reels that work fine. I also have two more expensive reels of this same speed line and I had to return one of them almost immediately due to the gears literally grinding. The good news is that you can easily return things when you use them shortly after buying them here at Amazon.

Ok. Heavy. I bought a Penn Fierce 2 for 25$ more and you can really feel the difference. Penn much smoother cast and retrieve. Wouldn't buy this again.

Usual Lew's good quality. Bail not as smooth as one would expect, difficult to release by engaging handle initially, required some adjusting.

Works great for me , I also use Lew's 300 for bigger fish

The concept/idea is great but the reel itself is garbage. I have used it about 5 times and each time I just get frustrated because the nut under the spool comes undone and feels like the whole reel is going to fall apart. It will NOT stay screwed in. Done waste the money on this.
