Carrie (2013) [DVD] [2013]

Like many viewers I saw several reviews before ordering this film. Many considered it inferior to the "original" of almost half a century ago. Naturally, having seen the original many years ago I too, half expected this to be just another average remake. Absolutely not so. This is a very well directed, well shot film. The cast is also very well chosen, with young Moretz leading from the front. Some said she was too "hollywood" and "cute" for this film. This is both an insult to her as a very competent, promising young actress and worse still, reflects total ignorance by these reviewers of modern day cyber bullying, which is the underlining theme throughout the film. Bullies don't always target people just for their absence of "good looks", far from it. Anyone at all can find themselves bullied. The modern updating of this film will strike a chord with many younger viewers watching it for the first time. Unlike the original, in this film it is hard not to empathise with the main character. Her ultra-religious mother is suffocating in her care for her daughter. The characters are very real. One almost forgets that this is a horror/gore movie, as watching it unfold, it feels much more like a hard drama and one cannot help but "cheer" the Moretz character of Carrie in the final dramatic scenes. The film has a real thriller feel, the viewer regularly wondering just how this film is going to end for Carrie. I watched the original again and found it poorly shot, grainy and lacking accurate colour representation. It has an crude over emphasis on the supernatural and is overall and frankly, very, very dated indeed. My advice, just forget all about the talk about the "original". Watch and judge this film as a genuine stand alone product, well worthy of watching, well directed and very well acted indeed. A real surprise.

Excellent movie

Too many people call this a remake - it's not.This was a Stephen King book that spawned a 1976 film that, to date, is still a good film.This is an adaption of the book, not a remake of the film.Chloe plays her role perfectly, she is after all a really good actress that clearly has a future ahead of her. And to be fair, all the actors play their roles really well and as such the film achieves what it sets out to do. However, I must admit i preferred the alternate ending.Not sure how quick they needed to get the film out but one small criticism - proof check it before you release it. It's not her fault but Chloe was only 15 when this was made and in one scene she is lying on her back, being attacked by her mother. Sadly you clearly see her, during the fight scene, take her left arm out of the fight to bring it down and adjust her dress which was beginning to reveal what she must have thought was too much. I'm not a critic but i clearly saw it, didn't ruin the film but it shouldn't be there.That said, it is a really good adaption and well worth watching.

Just have a few issues with reviews, which are generally just personal opinion. I do have a masters in English Literature and language so I have an understanding of opinion, but I'm abit drunk.Just lately tho at the age of 43 my broad horizon of horror has adjusted over the years. I seem to have calmed down and just let things go over my head, and of course have become a little desensitised. 😢Unfortunately as a Stephen King fan I feel that I need to say something seeing has noone else has. This is regarding the Carrie Remake??????? Excuse me...a remake of what??? Brain de Palmers film?? Yes I agree B d P film was great and I really enjoyed the new film. But my point is this...Please do not keep calling it a remake. It is certainly not, it is purely someone else's visual interpretation of the book and it deserves it's own credit as a stand alone film.ThankyouThe Crazy One "Sream Magazine"

Not a bad remake at all this one. in fact, i think i enjoyed it more than the original overall as it really does benefit from an update to todays era. i thort the tone of the film was handled well and some of the carnage witnessed towards the end of the film is directed with much aplomb. Erm, some of the build up was a little slow, but thats not really a concern if u've not seen the original as u won't be expecting the murderous revenge that arrives later on in the film (unless ur reading this of course). yeah so some good acting, some above average special effects and overall a solid remake. maybe the only criticism is chloe moretz, as tho ok, she's not quite living up to the early hype placed on her acting capabilities and i think she struggled with the whole damsel in distress routine. not sure i like her much actually. plus, sissy spaceks interpretation of carrie is a lot better and much more believable both characteristically and aesthetically.

The film came exactly as it was described

i feel no one can die of a head being hit by a bucket leading to tommy ross's death .He may of had some condition-but what pisses me off is there is no carrie 2 ,i prefer the latest carrie because there is more detail and bits that get your eyes running . Second the twins died of being stepped on? there must be another reason of their death . Third i don't remember in the original version carrie cracking the road leading to billy and chris's death and why carrie chose to save sue from the house crumbling after sue bullied carrie too

CHLOE GRACE MORETZ IS ONE OF THE GREATEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL ACTORS TODAY.EVERY MOVIE CHLOE MAKES IS GOOD. THIS VERSION IS EVEN BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL WITH SISSIE SPACEK. THE ORIGINAL MOVIE WAS GREAT, THIS MOVIE VERSION IS ACTUALLY EVEN GREATER! OUR FAVORITE CHLOE MORETZ MOVIE IS "KICK ASS 2". CHLOE MORETZ IS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS AS THE SUPERHERO "HIT GIRL". It's a reboot of the original Carrie, but it's good in its own way.

Tenia duda de no comprarla por que la imagen que ponen parece escaneada y de mala calidad, pero oh sorpresa me llego la edición con portada lenticular, excelente Bluray + Dvd + Digital Hd Dvd (Aunque el código ya caduco).Tanto el Bluray como el dvd incluyen audio y subtítulos en Español Latino.
