Perfect for half quantity of standard pie recipe
We like a nice pie, but a standard 23cm (9") recipe can sometimes be too large for us to manage. This 20cm dish is perfect for halving the quantities of a standard recipe. The actual inside diameter at the top is just over 17cm (6.¾").I tend to make sweet pies more often than savoury, so I first tested the dish by baking an Apple and Blackberry pie with a pastry base. It started it’s baking time at 200°C in the middle of my fan assisted oven (Gas Mark 7) for 15 mins, which didn’t upset the porcelain glaze or integrity of the dish in the slightest. For the remaining 55 mins, the temp was lowered to 180°C (Gas Mark 6). Overall, it needed 10 mins less baking time than a standard 9" pie, and it’s pastry base crisped up evenly and held together nicely. The pie, once cool, was placed in an airtight container and put in the fridge. The pastry remained crisp all weekend! Cutting the pie and lifting portions out with a cake slice worked well too. No soggy bottom!Nothing sticks to this dish so far, not even baked on jam/fruit. A little scrub by hand with a nylon scourer, in hot soapy water, lifted all traces.I’m very pleased with my purchase, and I can see it being used much more frequently than my 9" dish! It also fits very well in the 25cm Lock n Lock Cake Carrier, without excess room to rattle around in (should anyone reading this be curious as to which airtight container we used)!

Size Matters!
When looking at the reviews for this item, many people have complained about the size of the dish but I can't see that anyone has actually given the actual sizes. The pie dish is advertised at being 20cm and this is correct if measuring from the end of the dish (on the outside of the crinkle rim). However, if you need the dish to be 20cm at the base, it is much smaller as the actual measurement is 14cm. This said, I can still get four good sized pieces of pie from it which is all we need. The dish itself is well made and of a good weight and the pies I have baked in it have come out very well.

Nice
Sturdy and slightly smaller than expected but works well!

Much smaller than I thought.
I wish this had been bigger. Reading the reviews made me think it was. It’s a lot smaller. Enough for one portion.

Excellent Quality
We were very pleased with this pie dish. The only disappointment was, in spite of its claims, the base of the pie did not brown. The top was perfect colour and crispness. The bottom was just about cooked. We tried again . This time when the top was again perfect we covered it with foil and gave the pie another 10 mins cooking. The result was as you would expect. and we were very pleased with. Just something for prospective purchasers to keep in mind.

Perfect pie dish!
Just what I needed for a great cherry pie. Bought it because of the sloping sides, making it easy to remove slices.

Brilliant worth the money
Great pie dish but I need to address something that people might not know. The most common mistakes people make with a dish like this is they don't blind bake the base and this is a thick dish you need to blind back with ceramic beans that you can buy from Amazon. Blind bake then add the filling and the top and bake again for a further 15 minutes for the top.

Perfect for pies
I wanted a ceramic pie dish with a lip. This one fits the bill perfectly.
