What is the bore size?

This unit has bushings, not bearings. I believe the bore of the bushing is 5/16 inch, but I don't have the pulley accessible to measure it. The 6 1/2 inch pulley has bearings and is much smoother.

how do you determine which pulley diameter is best?

I have this size and it is perfect for me. This brand also has a larger one but I don't have experience with the larger size. I've never had the pulley come off the hook or the rope come off the pulley. I've had these for years and left them when we sold our home. So I just replaced the old ones at the new house. These are heavy duty and the bearings have held up on the old ones for years.

How thick is the wheel?

I purchased one recently. The track, from outside to outside is just under 3/4 inch. At its thickest part, which I think is the axle, it's about 1 5/8 inch. These are "eyeballed' measurements.

Not too many plastics are sunproof. The pulley that I have is metal and is working well in the Florida sun.
