I purchased this to measure the sugar content in my sap. I have a small operation with 120 to 240 trees tapped on buckets. I feel this refractometer is another tool in the toolbox which gives me a better idea of the content of my sap. Ok. Out of the box it looks good. The case includes 2 droppers to extract sap from your pail/bucket and put drops on the plate of the unit. It is easy to use and the brix scale is easy to read. It also includes a small screwdriver to calibrate the unit (required initially to set your scale to zero.) I am impressed with the quality for the price I paid. Keep in mind that this is not for testing maple syrup or juices. The unit measures 0 to 10 brix. Sap is generally at 2 to 4 out of your maple trees.

Qualitativamente sembra valido

Werkt goed. Gekalibreerd met suiker water en geeft prima 5% aan wanneer het dat moet zijn. Verdunnen 2x geeft ook 2,5% dus prima. We gebruiken het om het suikergehalte in gras te meten. Ben zeer verrast door de goede kwaliteit. Handig ook dat je de focus kunt aanpassen. Dus met een leesbril kan je die afzetten en toch scherp zien. Fijn dat er pipetjes en een doekje bij is.

Good narrow range refractometer for measuring low Brix, but the scale could be a bit bigger. The scale only takes up half of the viewing screen so the graduations are only about 50% bigger than my 0-30% refractometer. I was hoping for the 0-10% scale to fill the whole screen to make small Brix readings easier, nevertheless the bigger graduation spaces help.
