Is it possible to convert this to rc version because i see that the hull has markings for batteries

It is possible. If you have the materials you can rc anything. Back in the 70s when this kit was first produced you could buy motors and gears for it, but it just went forward with a on off switch.

Do the tracks come in one piece or do you have to fix them together?

The tracks are rubber and are in 2 strips (one for each set of wheels) you have to fix together with a hot knife/screwdriver prior to fitting over the wheels

Yes they are black rubber tracks. You can buy alternatives online for this model. But if you paint them you could not tell the difference
