Design Engineering DEI 050331 Boom Mat Speaker Baffles, 6.5" Round Slim (Pack of 2)

I could not find these at any local high end automotive stereo shops. They all said "Oh, we don't sell them anymore because they reduce bass response". Well, that may be true if you're trying to get your 6" drivers to produce really deep bass. But a true high end system crosses over the main drivers between 80-120Hz and sends all of the bass to a real subwoofer. These baffles are flexible enough to be almost transparent at frequencies higher than this. Sound quality is not impacted. Be that as it may, a simple solution (that I also used) is to cut 2" openings facing down to eliminate low frequency back pressure and stuff them with sound dampening foam. Best of both worlds. Low frequency response with dampened door panel reflection. And let's not forget, protection from water leakage. Installation is a breeze. Very good fit. Truly high end stereo shops should know all of this. They're just being lazy. I will actually be producing a YouTube video to show people exactly how this is done and why it's needed for really transparent sound quality.

Came on time actually 3 days early they provide airspace n insulation for mids I make the speaker so much more efficient and sound so much clearer they're well worth money

This is going to be a mixed review because I’m not really sure what to say. I installed these on one set of speakers, a cheaper set, and it accentuated the sound. Made it produce better low frequencies, just made the speaker sound like it was worth much more, I was very impressed. On the other hand. I ALSO installed these on a set of expensive speakers that sounded amazing right off the bat. My mind set was “wow! If these sound baffles could make that cheap speaker sound good, imagine what they will do for these”. Yeah well they made them sound worse then the cheap speakers without the baffle. Absolutely no mod or lower range, just straight high frequencies. This MIGHT have to do with my application though. The cheap speakers were 5.25’s located in the kick panel with a very holo area behind it. The expensive high quality speakers are 4 inch speakers in a very small awkwardly shaped area that the seatbelt actually runs through. So like I said. Mixed review, worked very well in one case, worked absolutely terrible in another. They’re cheap enough that I can say just get them if that’s your plan. If they don’t work out hold onto them because you never know. But don’t be surprised if you get opposite results then what you’re expecting. Very interested in how they’ll preform when I replace the kick panel speakers to the same brand expensive speakers. Maybe I’ll post a comparison video and change up my review.

Very good and durable replacement foam speaker baffle/cover. Keeps dust and water from damaging door speakers and contains the sound from dispersing into door cavity. The difference in sound quality was noticeable from not having any baffles before and then after installation.

Dont know about acoustics but use as water shield for my door soeakers

I used these on a pair of 6.5" 2-ways in my Honda Civic's doors. I was having problems with the speakers cutting out, so I pulled the door panels and I noticed a lot of water on the back sides of the speakers. I soldered in new quick-connects, and I purchased these speaker baffles as an attempt to keep water away from the drivers and connections. The Civic has plastic baskets with louvers to hold the speakers in the door, and the aftermarket speakers I bought just barely fit in the baskets. With the baffles in place, the foam was smashed between the back of the drivers and the baskets. I could tell from pushing on the woofer cones that the baffles introduced a lot of air resistance to the motion of the cones. This translated to dramatically impaired bass once I reinstalled the speakers. It's possible that with an open hole in your door mounts, the baffles would move with the woofers and not cause the air resistance I encountered.

Worked great! Cut the bottom out to let the speakers breath and use the door cavity to reverberate. Lessened the rattle and increased low response. Also protected from any moisture that could find its way down to the speaker.

Installed these as part of an overall upgrade to my TJ 99 sound bar, worked well to reduce the vibrations in the sound bar and provide more depth to the sound and improve the overall sound

Excelente ayuda a la bocina a estar protegida y ademas le mejora la calidad y nitidez. No es para quien tiene activo l bocina con bajo ya que al no poder respidar no tiene bajo pero si tienes un sistema completo de audio con un subwoofer veras la mejora inmediata que le da a tus bocinas!! Recomendable ampliamente!!!
