No more dropped calls! AMAZING reception.
Cons, The screen is not pure inky black and has poor side viewing. The cameras are not world class. Feels sluggish at times. You need high sensitivity, low impedance headphones to get the most out of the 3.5mm headphone jack PROs The screen gets BRIGHT, and when looking at the phone head on, it is vivid and clear The camera app is intuitive, easy to use, and pro mode is a bunch of fun... for me anyway! after 3-4 hours of updates, disabling\removing bloatware and unwanted programs, the phone feels responsive and I'm able to play hill climb racing 2 without any hiccups. As a phone goes, everyone says my voice is clear, not much low end in the ear speaker from the other person, but it goes loud and it is clear, same goes for the stereo speakers at the bottom, speakerphone works well, there is no time warp delay, or hearing yourself when you call. I believe I have actually upgraded my phone, as a phone. My note 20 ultra 5g SUCKED as a phone constantly dropping calls. This phone feels premium in the had and the cameras are protected by the thinnest of phone cases. the clear included case works perfectly fine! ______________________________________________________________________________ I am very happy with it, overall. 10/10 FOR PRICE/PERFORMANCE would recommend this phone to anyone who does not care if things are INSTANT. I think they used SLOW lpddr, paired with slow mmlc 64GB creating a unique bandwidth problem. The pages scroll much better after things are loaded. (I'm using the phone for texting, conference, and yep, phone calls all are instant with no lag whatsoever, same with home-screen/phone/settings navigation all really smooth)

A real bargain
Usually, I don't review items, but I was sooo pleased with this phone. My kid needed a new phone to replace his old Verizon prepaid phone, so I bought him this one. When I put the old phone's card into this one, I could get connection immediately. The camera is very functional and impressive. You can easily switch between different lenses to snap variety styles of pictures. The main camera sensor performs best in my opinion; I am really impressed with the picture quality. Compared to the old phone, the battery life is fantastic. It can easily last two to three days if you are not a heavy phone user. Trust me; if you are searching for a budget device, you won't be disappointed with this phone!

2022 phone with a few issues, but is still a good phone.
So I purchased my phone about two months ago. I am not a very tech savvy individual but I still understand operating systems and quality. As a smart phone it's fairly quick in regards to processing speeds, downloading speeds, and operating system. The screen is very clear and vivid. The weight of the phone is very light which feels very comfortable in your hand. It comes with the fastest charging block I've had in my life. The block will charge this phone from 0% to 100% in 20-30 minutes, however, hooking any other block up to this phone and it will take you hours to fully charge. So I'm not usually some one who writes reviews let alone go into details in the reviews. I truly like this phone I wish it doesn't have the issues it currently has, so I felt sharing with others my technical issues it might assist others in their choice. In the first month of having the phone it would randomly mostly at night make a quiet but noticable static noise. Most of the time if I would connect the charger to the phone when it was doing that it would almost immediately stop. I honestly thought there was something wrong with the battery and it was going to explode, but instead of making waves over the infrequent noise and sending it back, I decided to keep it. Now 1 month after all the static sounds and it has completely stopped. However, now I have zero sound from my speaker. I can call and text and can clearly hear and be heard, but any music a play or videos it's a whisper at full volume. Which is absolutely annoying when you're not a fan of head phones and enjoy sharing obnoxious music with your friends and family. Lastly, just like a lot of the phones on here specifically TCL branded phones it's extremely difficult to find a cell phone case that actually protects your phone. The closest I found for protection was the flimsy or "light weight" silicone case that cheap companies disperse with focus on the designs/colors but not so much durability. If I still had the option I would return this phone and find something else. As I said in the beginning I love this phone, it has worked well, and the issues I've had could be a lot worse. It still doesn't change the fact that it's been having issues every month I've had it and I really don't see it lastly for a full year tbh. I hope this helps others in there choices.

TCL 30XL Unlocked Cell Phone, 6.82 inch Vast Display, 5000mAh Battery, Android 12 Smartphone, very good phone for the cost. I am not a user of this type of phone and sent it back to the maker. while I it and tried to use it. I found it to be well made and very good at what and whom it was made for, but I got stared with apple iPhone and prefer that type phone and found one in my local area and purchased a used in very good condition and have not looked back. mo new used phone is an 11 pro max which should lasd me for 3 years until Apple no longer needs that phone.

No sound 8 days after return window closed
Purchased for my daughter to replace a lost phone. Great camera, big screen. But 37 days after the purchase arrived, all of a sudden the speaker doesn't work on calls. The caller can hear her , but she cannot hear them, on speaker or through the handset. This issue started at the same time the phone started crackling randomly. It sounds like radio static coming from the speaker. (the phone has NOT gotten wet or been damaged) If she plugs in headphones, she can hear on a call.. .she can play sound in apps.... We have checked all the settings and can't find anything pertaining to this problem.

I cannot recommend this phone right now.
I currently have a Samsung Note 9, which was released in 2018 (it is relevant to this review, I promise), but I'm not happy with the direction Samsung is going with their newer higher end phones (taking away expandable storage, taking away some sensors, etc) so I was looking to get a feel for a new phone company. We currently have two TCL TV's that we love so I decided to give TCL a try. I am testing a new unlocked TCL 30XL (2022) outside on a sunny day right next to my Note 9. Right off the bat, it's very hard to see the screen on the 30XL when I'm standing in the sun and have the screen at 100% brightness. If this was the only issue, I could possibly deal with it by adjusting how I use the phone, but it's not the only issue. The biggest problem I have with this phone is my connection speed. I have made sure to adjust every setting the same that I can on the 30XL and Note 9. I even migrated all of my settings from that phone. I'm on Verizon network with what is a very good connection on the Note 9. I've tested my speed a dozen times in 6 different positions while connected to only mobile data and I'm averaging about 48 Mbps on the Note 9 and 0.02 Mbps on the 30XL! It's almost a non-existent connection. I'm swapping the sim card each time and checking the speed with the other phone as soon as I get the sim swapped while holding them in the exact same position. Both phones are 4G and say that in the bar. It has nothing to do with the sim and nothing to do with Verizon. All controllable parameters being equal, it's hard to believe that a phone 4 model years newer would run a data connection so much slower. It makes me believe there might be something wrong with this particular 30XL. The fingerprint reader is hit and miss on this phone. The speed of the phone switching from app to app is noticeably slower than the Note 9. Even typing on the phone feels a bit glitchy, like when I want to delete a couple sentences and hold down backspace/delete on my keyboard, it doesn't delete the letters and words smoothly, it doesn't feel like it can keep up and then all of a sudden it's deleted a bunch of words into the next sentence. I use the same keyboard on my Samsung, and this does not happen. I know this isn't a perfect comparison, it's what I have to work with. The perceived feel of a phone while it's processing is an important part of the overall experience. Maybe if I was able to splurge on one of TCL's higher end phones this wouldn't be an issue? I just didn't feel like I could get their higher end phone at the moment, and wanted to test out the company before potentially switching to them full time. I don't know if this phone is a lemon in more ways than just the mobile data speed? The phone does feel good in the hand, the screen size is good, and battery seems to last better than the Note 9 (which does still have it's original battery). If it wasn't for the phone feeling like it lags while processing, I'd consider getting the same replacement phone to see if the unusable mobile speeds are just a bad unit. As it is, I don't think I can try another 30XL, even for the great price. My significant other is wanting to switch from Samsung also. I was hoping I could recommend TCL, but right now I couldn't. I will have to return this phone. I'm not sure what direction to go from here, but we use our phones for so much online stuff nowadays that there's no way to keep a phone that doesn't do online stuff well, not to mention one that doesn't switch from app to app without a lag since everything is done using apps now.

UPDATED REVIEW. TCL CAME THROUGH. UPGRADE TO 5 STARS!
Update: TCL contacted me without prompting (After reading my initial review). I have to say, they are the first vendor in my many years on Amazon (since the days when they only sold books) that I have been spontaneously contacted to correct a problem. Not only did TCL offer me a refund, they upgraded me (without additional charge) to their top of the line TCL 20 Pro 5G with 256 gigs of storagd, 8 gigs of processor RAM, an AMOLED screen (which is nothing shy of stunning), and all the goodies one can ask for, including a 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro SD slot. Upon return of the original, defective phone, TCL stood tall, and treated me like a rock star. Not only did they refund 100% of the cost of the original phone, but the upgrade was free! I am gobsmacked at their giving me ( free, after refunds) their flagship phone. I fully recommend TCL and their awesome customer service, and the new, upgraded phone works flawlessly with Verizon. It arrived factory unlocked, and I just had to call Verizon to activate it. TCL (and the superb customer support representative named "Emma") are, IMHO, the best in thebusiness, and I am completely satisfied with my replacement phone. A small aside, I feel TCL should start using Gorilla Glass, but a simple screen protector (Curved glass for less than $10) does a great job on this phone. Keep up the great customer care and keep making quality products, TCL! D.S. verified customer Arrived in undamaged box, but screen has damage right from the fact. Purchased new, not refurbished, should not have been sent a detective phone. Did activate it because I needed a phone, and still do! Also, phone reboots randomly and rejects updates. Phone updated, all updates appeared on screen, but when I reboot the phone, it reverted to original configuration without being reset. Screen damage not caused by me or by abuse. Display is really nice and phone processes quickly, but cannot get around receiving what appears to be a refurb, when I bought direct from Amazon as a full price new phone. Returning for credit, will likely buy a different brand...one with hardened glass screen. I never thought that a manufacturer like TCL would hide the fact the screen is plastic, and flimsy enough that something in the box tapped the screen during shipping (charger?) only to expose that the screen is not hardened glass. The reboot loss of updates issue effects functionality.

Great Phone, No Issues.
I have had this phone now for a month or so, I am very impressed. Interestingly, my wife's newer iPhone $1,000.00 + .....has nothing over the TCL 30, nothing except her battery runs out very quickly. I own and operate a tree service, phones don't last very long around me. This phone has been a solid performer right out of the box. Excellent 3 plus day battery life, speaker is clear and loud, super fast on internet and had more than ample storage. I read reviews for days before choosing this TCL 30, so far, it's the best smart phone I have ever had. Very Impressed, Extra Happy too. The money I saved, I bought a new chainsaw......
