Philips PowerLife Steam Iron GC2990/26 with 140g Steam Boost

We bought this iron to replace the Philips GC3320 Steamglide iron that we'd had for 8 years. That iron had given us excellent service and the only reason we needed to replace it was as a result of my other half carelessly trying to shorten some trousers with wonderweb and getting the adhesive all over the sole plate of the iron. So, we were already impressed with the design and durability of Philips irons and had no hesitation replacing it with something similar. Overall this iron is very similar to the one we had previously: Size dimensions are almost identical; It is fractionally lighter, but you don't really feel that - and this model actually feels better balanced. It is heavy enough to aid the effectiveness of the ironing process, but without being cumbersome. There have been other tinkerings with the design, but these have just helped to make it an improvement on our previous model. The sole plate has the same smooth gliding feel, but the front end has be reshaped and now makes it even better at getting into awkward areas between buttons and into the top of pockets. The lid of the water reservoir has also been redesigned and is now more robust and gives a wider aperture to pour water into. So, all in all, the unfortunate mishap with the wonderweb has actually done us a favour. After 8 years service the previous iron owed us nothing, but we now have one that is even better and that will hopefully last us just as long.

Excellent steam iron. Medium to light weight, plenty of steam holes and power. Has a water spray which covers a generous surface and a shot of steam. Easy to use for vertical steaming. Extra long smooth fabric covered cord which doesn’t knot, twist or pull fabric being ironed. Comes in its box alone so all can see (!) with courier labels all over it. Pity, would be better in an Amazon box but that has nothing to do with style & performance of the iron. Large area for filling from a small jug (no filling beaker supplied) and reservoir easy to see water level. Cord wraps well around heel of iron. Great product.

I've used Philips steam irons for years. They work well and are excellent for the price. This is slightly heavier than my last but still better than the Turbo steam iron I used to use. Recommended.

Very good iron, sufficient controls on the iron. It has good steam functions, not heavy on the hand and easy to use. Would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good iron.

This is an excellent iron. Simple to use, quickly reaches temperature, holds a reasonable amount of water, and has an appropriately long electric cord. There's a handy groove just above the plate for easily getting around buttons. I'm very pleased with the overall performance and high recommend to anyone think of switching irons.

This is a good iron. It does what I need it too, without any messing around. It's a comfortable weight, and easy to handle (I have arthritis). The flex is long, and well made. I particularly like the hinged door of the water container, as these are usually flimsy on other irons, not this one, AND it's still well made. Happy customer.

This is a great iron. Simple to use, reaches temperature quickly, holds a reasonable amount of water and has a sensibly long electric cord. There's a useful groove just above the plate so you can get around buttons easily and I'm very pleased with the overall results.

I’m giving 3 stars only because of how this iron was packed. The was just put the sticker with the address on the original box of the iron. It’s my first experience received order from amazon like that. I ordered it for my mum and I’m glad that the iron is work properly. The iron is very good. I use it wor more than year now and I recommend it. The delivery was quick as well.

Da anni che utilizzo solo il marchio Philips, e non lo cambierò mai. ho cambiato il mio vecchio ferro perché lo fatto cadere e si è rotta la plastica se no sarei andato avanti per molti altri anni.

Il prodotto è arrivato con la scatola già aperta e chiusa alla buona con del nastro trasparente e con la spina inglese.
