Makes a big difference
I've noticed a huge difference in the quality of the coffee from my machine since installing these. I didn't really think it would make that much difference but we are in a hard water area and it's very noticeable, particularly because I drink a lot of black coffee. Cheaper than direct from melitta on if you buy the 3 pack too

Unfortunately necessary here but way too expensive
The filter works great and in our area necessary unfortunately, as these are way to expensive given that you usually have to change it on a monthly basis, which makes it a constant expense

Nearly £14 for a filter that lasts about two months - it’s expensive!

Need it no, but you should to protect your machine.
A must have if you want to keep your Melitta coffee machine in tip top shape. These replacement filters do a necessary job for you coffee machine, yes you don’t have to use them, but I would recommend it as it does protect the machines inner workings from anything that come from your tap, or bottled water.Let’s face it, you spend hundreds, even thousands of pounds on a coffee machine and then don’t bother to protect it for a few pounds a month, bit silly if you ask me.
