How hot can these diodes safely operate? 27 volts and only 6 amp and a lot hotter than expected...

General rule with a lot of electronics is, “if you can touch it it’s fine” diodes will generate heat the higher you get to their wattage limit. Make sure they aren’t touching anything that is potentially flammable. If they are running to hot for the location they are in to be safe you may need diodes with a higher amperage rating. Mine run a little warm at 8 amps but hasn’t been an issue.

Can you run two of these parallel to support 30A at 48V?

Yes and no. Two in parallel will double amperage handling but not voltage. Also note the close you get to the peak rating of a diode, the hotter it will get and in turn fail sooner. I would recommend getting a diode with a higher voltage rating.

Can it use for 12 volts?

Yes. The diodes are rated for a maximum of 45 volts. They will handle anything up to that.

Is thr 45v reverse the allowed amt to flow back into the panel even if the panel outputs 40v ? Will the diode allow the 40v to pass in one direction?

The diode blocks/allows whatever voltage it is connected to up to a maximum of 45 volts. Putting a 45 volt rated diode in a 40 volt circuit does not mean the voltage passing through the diode will increase to 45 volts. In fact the diode will hold back about .5 volts, so the result of passing 40 volts through it will be about 39.5 volts output.
