You Are a Medium: Discover Your Natural Abilities to Communicate with the Other Side

I have to say that when I bought this book, it was a bit of a lark. I lost my father this year and have felt his presence around me since. This book is a great guide to anyone that wants to learn to communicate with loved ones. I also purchased both the "Discover your Psychic Type" and this one. I read this one over a period of a month and am still reading the other one. You can do the step by step exercises as Sherrie suggests and I incorporate them along with my yoga practice. Yoga is a whole body prayer and very meditative so at the end of my practice, I have been spending time focusing on the exercises Sherrie gives. This is a practice, as well and both seem to go together for me anyway. I have had several breakthroughs with moments of visions and dreams that were very positive. I started with the other book to help me with my Tarot readings and there has been a wonderful opening. Several notes to anyone that wants to learn about this practice. Get the hard copy of the book not the kindle. You may end up writing and marking the pages as this will be a textbook if you are serious. Also, do not worry about the test for your Medium type. You may find you are one or part of all. Sherrie makes that clear in the back of the book. I had abilities in all areas. If you just want to explore and read a fascinating book with an open mind I think you will find this book amazing. Sherrie is a wonderful teacher. She has a special connecting ability to the reader which is no surprise as she to connects to the spiritual realm. Her explanations, her methods and spirituality are very understandable way no matter what your beliefs are.

Overall, a great book. It's structured in a way that will help guide those who don't understand their abilities to a place where they can begin to decipher/interpret the messages they are either feeling, sensing, hearing, tasting, etc. The exercises are tailored in a way that individual strengths can be improved with practice. I had a most unusual experience while reading Sherrie's book last summer. I noticed that about half way through this book, the pages seemed to glow around the circumference. They took on an aura of pinkish lavender! I thought maybe it was eye strain, so I took out my contacts...but still the lavender glow continues when I pick up this book. 😀 This book is packed with Sherrie's life experiences which will enable readers to relate to and apply rock-solid best practices for mediumship development. A great book for serious students! PS: Sherrie, if you're reading this, in reference to your section on Walt Disney: my mother used to play with Walt Disney's nephew in Kansas City, MO when she was a young girl in the 30's-40's. He lived but a few blocks away from her, and she frequently would sneak off (against her mother's wishes) to go play with him. Apparently, he was quite the handful, ornery, and had a dirty mouth at a young age (my grandmother attested to that as well). 🤣

Hello everybody :) Ruth here - just wanted to offer you guys a review of this fascinating book. I've read lots of books about metaphysics and Spiritual development through the years and Sherrie's books are among my favorites. I find her stories of how Spirit uses her to communicate messages to their loved ones, particularly intriguing - especially after I began to realize that i had been receiving messages from Spirit as well off and on, and either not paying attention, or writing them Off as the by products of an over active imagination. As Sherrie says, we all are Mediums ... We all receive information from Spirit. We simply haven't been socialized to recognize those odd dreams, sensations, inexplicable sounds, smells, or "knowings" for what they are. This book and "Discover Your Psychic Type" also by Sherrie, helped me realize that communications from Spirit aren't just reserved for a select gifted few among us, but it is our birthright as Spiritual beings having a physical experience. Sherrie is an amazingly gifted Psychic Medium, as well as a wonderful teacher. I love her unassuming highly effective approach and highly recommend this book !!!!!

I am a medium and I am often asked by my clients about how they can develop their own abilities. This book is a great overview of psychic and medium abilities and how to practice them. The author also doesn't spend a large portion of the book telling her personal story, which is refreshing.

The chief value for me of Sherrie Dillard's book on how to become a medium is its revelation of how we in a physical reality continue to help those who have crossed over. This critical bit of information has not been widely publicized despite the enormity of its implications. I have read numerous books by mediums and personally am acquainted with two very good evidential ones. I have had a telephone reading with one them, and the experience was even more impressive than I had imagined it would be. Neither medium had suggested to me that there are ways in which I could be of help to the one who had passed. I'm pretty sure that most of us imagine a substantial wall between ourselves and those who have transited into a very different sort of universe. A lively and ongoing interaction between worlds is not the popular view. Ms. Dillard's approach to her subject is plain-spoken, matter-of-fact and entirely free of woo-woo, New Age flights of giddy spirituality. She is nothing like the Divination Professor Sybil Trelawney in the Harry Potter books. I was engaged by what she had to say, and read her book cover-to-cover. Although there are quite a few accounts of her readings throughout most of the book, they are provided as illustrative examples of key points that Ms. Dillard wishes to make. As a result, I never felt that her use of them was excessive. I appreciated her practical cautions about going off the deep end with what might be considered "medium fever". For example, she warns, "Being loving and compassionate and assisting others in their healing had its limits," and "As loving and healing as the spiritual realm is, it is no pity party. We have to be responsible for out attitudes and actions," as well as, "There are no victims in life. Our soul has chosen its earth school lessons." Her Dr. Phil style sensibility throughout the book maintains a steadying credibility in what she tells us about the nature of the spirit world and our relationship to it. It is time that those of us remaining in this reality began to appreciate how intimately we are connected to another dimension of human experience and how, specifically, we continue to assist one another on both sides to grow, develop, and mature spiritually. Ms. Dillard's book is a key contribution to that vital process.

Sherrie Dillard is very straightforward in her writing style. This book shares a lot of scenarios as well as a test and explanations on each type of intuitive. It's informative and gives you a clear perspective. One of the only books out there on how to cultivate your gifts versus reading case readings. Don't get me wrong, reading about readings can be helpful, having general information about the different types of ways to intuit and what to do to expand on that with tools and tips is a better way of helping the masses. I know when I started experiencing things, I didn't know who to talk to or what to read in order to reign in my gifts and to learn how to use them and be safe in the process. "You Are A Medium" does a little of that. It's not like having a mentor but it helps if you are struggling.

The majority of this book is an intro to what Sherrie Dillard has done in the past. The real meat of the subject starts in Section 3. There is a very good self test to get an idea of your natural abilities. Sherrie states early in her book that you can jump to the back at anytime. I read the entire book and reread Section 3 to the end several times. This book is the first step in finding out if this is something you would like to explore to reach a higher level. A very good read!

I loved this book! Anyone who has ever had any interest in anything "paranormal" or "psychic" needs to read this book! There's a reason you have an interest in it. It means you have the ability, you just need to develop it! After reading the book, I don't feel so crazy anymore. :) It seems I pick up other people's emotions and actually feel them myself. I absorb other people's pain as well. Now when I start feeling out of sorts, I know where it's coming from and what it means. I highly recommend this book for everyone. The truth is, we all have these abilities. Most of the time we just ignore them. Our loved ones who've passed really do try to contact us, just not in the way we're expecting. There's a quiz in the book to find out which "clair-" you're strongest in (clairsentience, clairaudience, etc.) and Sherrie offers ways to improve your main "clair-" and to strengthen the others.

Great guide to developing your natural medium abilities highly recommend it.

This book was so much more than I expected. Initially I was upset that the test was so far back in the book, and that there were less meditation writings than her first publication; however, the second part of the book was so much more rewarding than the test to determine your medium type. It delved deep into life lessons our soul may be experiencing, and gave so much valuable and practical insight into how I looked at the circumstances I have faced in my life. I personally highlighted this book more than any textbook I have ever purchased for my University degree. I was thoroughly impressed by this read and I STRONGLY recommend it to those who actually do desire to develop their mediumship skills, or who are looking to understand the spiritual nature of spirits, and the other side. Amazing, truly amazing.

Good interesting book, with some things which made a lot of sense . This book is only for people who have medium experience really as it will only mean something to them. For me it was great and helped me understand things a lot better.

The book is a good one for anyone interested in what a medium does. It is warmly written and engaging. An easy read and so delightfully surprising with antidotes from the author's experience.
