This is not a substitute for a self-defence baton (if that is your search).
This should come in handy the next time I am at a parade ... it is a grand hand-held flag pole.I am left to wonder why this item was displayed by Amazon when I was searching for an expanding baton. It was very inexpensive so I took the bait thinking (or hoping) it might be more than what it was advertised as. It is not.

I found this to be better quality than I was expecting due to the price, I didn't use it for a flag holder, but it was perfect to reach up to the ceiling wlth a small cup fixed to the end to catch spiders
