Cooking Greek: A Classic Greek Cookbook for the At-Home Chef

I am Greek, both parents born there. This is the best book I have found that captures exactly how Greek people cook. Every one of these recipes are what we ate every day growing up and exactly how my Mom made it. Simple, elegant and perfectly captured. I have 7 or 8 Greek cookbooks - this is the BEST for how we actually cook at home everyday. Very well done.

I love that this book features simple tasty recipes with ingredient you can find at your local supermarkets.

This was a gift for my daughter. The hard cover had a dent at one corner, no book jacket. Otherwise the recipes are well written and good photos of the dishes.It was shipped in a cardboard box with no padding. I suppose that's what you get when offered free shipping from Amazon.

Cooking Greek should have a subtitle “ aka Cooking from the Heart”. Home cooked Greek authentic meals that are easy to follow, that are full of flavor. Growing up in a Greek household the introduction spoke to me in so many ways. It reminded me of being a child and captured the nostalgia that comes from the various meze, meals, and desserts within the book. Anyone reading this review, it’s important to understand how difficult it was learning from your Greek parents and grandparents , when they measure by the eye or by using a specific cup. At times it felt like you would never be able to replicate a recipe, and what was the point of learning. The recipes would be lost forever once they passed on. Fear no more, the authenticity of the various dishes feel like I’m cooking with the relatives that tried so hard to pass on their love of cooking in our culture. I was pleasantly surprised the book identified a few tricks that my dad would do, once I left the room. ( the missing trick or missing spices are now outlined with specific measurements ). The instructions are clearly articulated and easy to follow. Helpful tip: be prepared with measurements and items prior to starting. Highly recommended for parties or daily meals!

I have loved this cook book so far - easy to read and understand recipe with simple ingredients and great flavor. All of the recipes with the lemon fingerling potatoes are amazing and everyone has loved them. I still have a lot more recipes to try out, but I haven't had a "miss" yet. Definitely recommend trying this cookbook!

With this cookbook I have been able to replicate some of the delicious recipes served by my mother in law who is a Greek immigrant and one of the best cooks I know! The recipes are very easy to follow, with simple,clean ingredients that makes me feel happy to serve to my family. The beautiful pictures give me a vision of how the dish should turn out or be served. The stories behind each type of food or ingredient are so inspiring. I highly recommend this book. It is so far the best Greek cookbook that I have used to date!

I have used the booked over the past several months and have found it easy to follow and containing most of the Greek recipes I have known to love. My daughter follows the recipes as well, and we frequently cook together. A wonderful family experience. Highly recommended.

This Greek cookbook, aside from being so beautiful and visually appealing, is one of the most authentic I’ve come across! The recipes are easy to follow but more importantly DELICIOUS! It’s now my go to cookbook for everyday meals and for feeding a crowd! Highly recommend.

Don’t get me wrong, the recipes look very nice, but everything else about this book is wrong. The publisher should be ashamed for converting this book to the Kindle format without: pages numbers, an index or proper linked table of contents. It is very difficult to navigate. Beside all that, the pages cannot be made to fit the screen properly. Quite appalling.
