Great overdrive pedal, goes from nearly clean boost to dirty overdrive with just a few tweaks

I had to review this pedal to help bring it’s rating up. It’s really great, very close to the original, maybe slightly more mellow. Which is a good thing in my opinion. Of course the enclosure is massive, same specs as original, but I love that. It’s like an old muscle car versus a “reissue” or newer model. Build quality is there, take a look inside, and if you hear a ratting sound when taken out of the box it ships with a 9V installed. This is an essential boost on my rig I can’t live without. Cheers.

Didn’t know what to expect since I wasn’t familiar with the original model it replicates. First impression it’s the sweetest clean boost I’ve ever used. The breakup comes in slow with a turn of the gain knob but when it finally comes in its beautiful. I mean like a 59 bassman pushed to the limit. Not for bedroom playing. This thing needs volume to show its potential. It pairs well with other distortion pedals as a boost. Overall I’m happy with the purchase and I can’t wait to use it live. I mention novice in the title because this pedal is an old school overdrive. Players new to the circuit might not think the gain is enough. Someone with more experience with overdrives will appreciate it more in my opinion. Flat out, it sounds like a really good dirty tube amp!

The first one I got was messed up. Two of the knobs wouldn't turn without a fight, but it sounded UNREAL. I sent that one back and Amazon had a new one out to me the next day. I have tried the Silver Archer, the Gold Archer, the Tumnus, the Way Huge Conspiracy - they are all nice.. I think the Silver Archer was the best of all those, but no joke, this Warm Audio pedal blows them away. I actually use the Silver Archer as a clean boost into the Warm Audio and that is a tone that makes me want to play for hours... Can't put the guitar down.. If you get a good one, you will not be disappointed.

I would give this five stars but my Centavo arrived with a broken footswitch and I still have not heard a response from Warm's customer service. The plastic casing on the back of the footswitch arrived detatched. I contacted customer service and let them know that this was urgent (I have a string of shows coming up) and I have not heard back. Now the good. I was able to rig the switch to work (Amazon is sending a replacement) and the pedal is by far the best Klon clone I have ever heard. I have used the soul food, tone bakery, and the model in the Line 6 HX Effects and it is way better than any of those. I also play with another guitarist who uses the KTR and I'm going to A/B it with the KTR. I love the Mod. The distortion is amazing but I really have been using it as a clean boost and it significantly improves the sound of all my setups through any of my amps. I've used it with guitar and pedal steel. I'll need to get another since the pedal steel sounds great thru it. Makes all my amps sound better: Fender 63 Vibroverb Reissue, Premier 88n, Magnatone M15, Matchless Lightning Reverb, and it even made playing through a cheap Crate keyboard amp sound decent!

Up until now - if you didn't have $5000 to plunk down on an original Klon - the Wampler Tumnus was pretty much as good as it got (which is a FANTASTIC PEDAL); however - Warm Audio might have just taken the title. The Centavo is pretty much a part-by-part, hand-wired copy of the original Klon, with a Germanium diode and everything. Like almost all the other WA stuff, it is almost indistinguishable from the original at a fraction of the price. Even if you already have a klone you like - this is money well spent - because if you think one Klon circuit is cool - you should hear how amazing stacking 2 of them sounds, and now you can do it without spending $10,000 to do it.

The pedal worked one night, one night later it only makes a high pitched squeal. There was no change, I didn't touch the pedal. It just sat in front of my amp. I tried new batteries and different cables with no luck. I'm really disappointed. While it was working it sounded amazing, exactly like I hoped it would. Unfortunately, I can't give 5 stars to a product that almost immediately failed. I plan to get another, hope this doesn't happen again.
