Fantastic Dark Story and Amazing artwork.
used with my Year 5 class for telling darker versions of well known tales. They loved it. used at story telling parent/pupil evenings as well. Illustrations are epic and so dark. A Fantastic read.

Beautiful. Great illustration
Beautiful. Great illustration. Great quality of paper, and of course as it is Neil Gaiman the writing doesn't disappoint.

Good read
Just like the version my Gran used to tell me when I was a little girl. But if you're expecting a twist like with some others of Gaiman's stories you may feel disappointed.

Great buy!
What a beautiful book this is!Especially Gaiman's text which is different from the somewhat bland original: it ads interesting details (like in 'what was in the chest hidden under the witch's bed?) and a more poetical language (eg verbs to express the witch's reactions when Hansel and Gretel tell her how they ended up at her gingerbread house), All these give the tale an extra-dimension.The black and white 'silhouette' illustrations are a bit something of an acquired taste, but they ultimately blend in nicely with all their 'wildness' with the story. The book ends with an enlightening 2-page historical discussion (comparing the story to other cruel fairytales).Very happy with the purchase!A fairy-tale fan.

Splendid
Young Neil at his finest. He takes the mundane and shines a light on it from a different direction and, suddenly, there is something completely new.If you thin you know the story you just might be in for a surprise.Try it then, when you find you love it, go and buy some more Neil Gaimon books, there are no bad ones.
