Consistent results. But takes 20 minutes per knife
This tool works fine on my kitchen knives. Not so much with small narrow blades. I like the double clamp for longer blades. I am not a fan of the table top clamp. I only have one table that it will work on. My wife complains that the knives are “too” sharp. So far I have not been able to achieve “razor” sharp. I have a tester that I use to check the sharpness.

Not fast, but satisfying and Zen like.
Like all tools, look at the job first. If there isn't a shallow approach angle to the edge (cheap knife) then alot of metal is removed. See pic for the difference. Wrap a stone in 80 grit Emory paper to start. None broke on me. Accuracy is quite good, if you need better, use a surface grinder or mill.

Good product, can be improved
The sharpener is good for positioning. I used the stones provided, just one time because the stones wear out very quickly, they are nor good.It is not clear which stones should be used with oil, or with water, or dry.I used it with the upgrade metal swivel. And for sharping stones, I used two arkansas natural sharpening stones (used with oil), that I adapted them for the sharpened. THE RESULT IS EXCELLENT!!I have fixed each stone to a piece of wood and made a hole of 5 mm for the bar provided to keep the sharping angle. So my recomendation is to buy the basic kit (less stones!! and cheaper version), the upgrade swivel, and find good sharp stones.

Functional and precise knife sharpening
I’m not a professional chef or knife fanatic but I do enjoy cooking and appreciate a sharp knife. I’ve been using wet stones and have inconsistent results. I get sharp knives but the sharpness varies along the edge. With the sharpening tool I’ve been able to get more accurate angles and consistency from my knives. Granted there are limits of this tool but for the money you get precision and consistency during the sharpening process. The unit comes in its own compact case and is easy to setup. Main base assembly clamps to a table top or work bench. Stone arm is two pieces that join end to end with thumb screw. Post screws into base and locks in with thumb screws. Sets up in minutes. Plenty of adjustments with the knife clamp, stone arm and post. Smooth actuation pulling the stone across the blade. The knife clamp easily flips blade 90 and 180 degrees to sharpen both sides of the blade without removing the knife from the fixture. Note I headed comments from other users about buying a set of diamond stones and have not regretted that purchase. I also ended up getting a good digital angle finder to accurately zero the blade and then set the stone angle. I recently used 17-18 degrees (typical for Japanese knives) and got great results. One more thing. Learn how to use a leather strop to hone the blade to razor edge. You can easily spend more money from other vendors for the same unit so be careful when looking at included parts and features.

Overly Complicated
Well I’ll just say I had high hopes for this. Idea seemed pretty solid. I got this for my longer kitchen knifes. I have been a fan of the Lansky sharpening system for the over 30 years. I have had to replace those stones a few times over the years I use so often. It does however have issues with longer blades. I solved that problem by using 2 of their clamps. So when I decided on this unit I thought it would make sharpening the longer blades easier. Started fine but found out quickly that this was overly complicated. You see the trick in sharing ANY blade is maintaining your angle. 17, 24, 35.5. Doesn’t matter as long as you maintain your angle. Yea, the angle you choose depends on what you sharpen. An ax won’t need a shallow angle and will only break a shallow angle under the the heavy use of the ax. So as for this unit I have to say a big no. Too flimsy. Too much wiggle. I didn’t get the feed back in my fingers or hand as to how flat the stone was on the blade. I did feel and see the metal rods moving and flexing. I felt the stone twist a lot. That meant the edge of the stone was cutting into the blade. That is not good at all for maintaining my angle and with the twisting the stone was gouging at the blade. This is very bad. Again I had high hopes. I do enjoy sharpening knives. I don’t know if it’s the sound that soothes me or what. I just know this system was stressing me as I was worrying about my blade. I’m glad I started on my least expensive blade for this trial run. My advice is, look for something else.

Sooooooooooo Chef here.....
Ummmm...I like it...it still does take a bit technique....like tiny bit....not like grandparents learning how to play Halo on PS5, just like...maybe changing guitar strings. And maybe not even that bad. That said. My ONLY GRIPE, is that the stone slips out. Not always, but sometimes.. and it's not a big deal...but like, imagine how it feels to walk up to your front porch with both hands full of groceries, and you get your keys out to unlock the door, and you open the glass or screen door if you have one, and then you get to the main door and you line the key up with the hole, and it slips from you grasp, and falls to the bottom of the middle bag, (bc #1tripwonder, decided to carry 6 bags all the way up to the elbow) and now you have to set them all down to fish the keys out of the bag and then put them all back on your arm. All this and you have to pee, it's like that kind of annoying...but works really well.
