Seben 76/900 EQ2 astronomical reflecting telescope

Delivery: very fast, arrived within three days, tracked from Germany. Packaging: extremely well packaged, all parts present. Obviously you have to put it together. Build: fairly easy (especially if you have ever made up flat pack furniture!). It does take a little time to sort out which bolts go where, the instructions could be clearer here, but it all goes together well and appears to be very well made. Usage: this is an area where the instructions are very vague, some detailed information about how to track objects and the maths behind lens powers, but a bit lacking in detail about the various lens options provided. Trial and error work well though. The on line instructions are worth downloading as the drawing needed for building it up is a lot clearer (ignore the obvious typos and mangled English). Summary: appears to be a very well made product, super fast delivery and now looking forward to discovering exactly how good it is (weather permitting). Just a shame that the instructions are not up to the standard of the telescope.

for the low price, you get a LOT with this telescope, and it is delivered fast The scope itself is good - i got some great views of jupiter with its moons, and the detail of our own moon is fantastic. The only downside is the whole 'mechanism', i.e. the all the gubbins between the tripod and the tube, which is a little bit cheap and wobbly, and of course the tiniest wobble will show up BIG TIME when you're looking things millions of miles away. All in all, though, this is a good starter set!!

Rubbish !!! Bought for my 13 year old arrived like a jigsaw puzzle with zero instructions !! Been trying to build for three days ! One very upset boy for Xmas !!!!!!! And too late too return !!!! Not happy at all

I've been told that if I were to spend less than £150 on a telescope I'd end up with a "toy". At time of purchase this was £99, which by that judgement firmly puts it into the "toy" bracket - (and £99 is a reasonable amount of money). Firstly this arrived and it very hefty. The packaging etc weighed around 16kg, so not something you're going to carry around too much once built. Building it was quite a chore, and following the instructions wasn't simply - I'd like to think I can build wardrobes, computers etc, however this telescope took me a good 1+ hour to piece together. As part of putting it together, I got to appreciate where the compromises were for the price, and it was with the build quality of some of the parts. Anyone once done, it was sort of standing, but not too sturdy, however if you were very careful, you could see the moon with all the craters. But it is hard work to get is to do so, due to various shortcomings (some might be just my lack of understanding):- - The viewfinder doesn't match what the main reflector sees, and adjusting from viewfinder crosshairs to main eyepiece is very much trial and error - Just walking away from telescope (so next person can have a look) is enough to wobble the moon out of vision of the eyepiece - H20mm eye piece was ok to see moon, anything higher magnification 4, 6, 12.5mm was too difficult to use. - Couldn't work out how the Barlow lens worked so gave up on that one - Moon filter useful to reduce brightness, but found image quality suffered slightly - Moon was ok, but stars - well I really couldn't work out how to move from viewfinder to reflector eyepiece, despite trying a lot. - The telescope was overly weighted to the right and I found it almost impossible to get it to hold in the horizontal axis. It was stuck at I'd say around -1 degree. I had the screw lock on the hinge, but wasn't strong enough, I had turned it reasonably tight, and was worried any tighter would break things. In summary: I'd say people are right, at this price, don't expect too much and you might be ok. However in this case, I've got a very large telescope which takes up a lot of room, but isn't particularly good. Yes you could spend £200-£400 and get something better. Bottomline is, either get binoculars for £50-100, get this telescope and live with the limitations, or spend big money on something more up-market... the choice is yours...

Very good scope for the little price tag very surprised at the quality in a market that usually means quality comes at a price but this punches well above it weight, well worth the money and for a budding astronomer this will give very good results for many different levels of expertise from learning to amateur... enjoy

Great starter telescope , but the instructions were more complicated than they needed to be , in the end I put the instructions to one side and worked it out easier that way. Haven't actually used it as yet , this is my first ever telescope , but I am lookng forward to using it . Haven't worked out the lenses yet but I'm sure I will .

I received my telescope 2 days ago not had a chance to use it yet due to weather but packaging was good little hole in box but didn't effect product inside. delivery time was good . Found it easy to put together instructions was easy enough to understand . You get a lot for your money . So in all highly recommended for first time or experienced users .

When I first got this I was smitten. The idea of 400x + Magnification looked superb on paper. However it's almost impossible to focus at anything over 150x because imho the quality of the lens and mirrors is too poor. Additionally the mount screws failed after only a few weeks leaving the whole scope unstable. I got a replacement mount but it had exactly the same problem. At high magnifications it needs to be rock solid, this scope is more like a rocking horse. For £100 + the quality really just isn't there - I would shop elsewhere. On the plus side yes you can just about make out the rings of Saturn and Jupiter's moons but honestly the clarity of the images are terrible.

era da tempo che volevo acquistare un telescopio per vedere meglio la luna e i principali pianeti che si vedono anche ad occhio nudo. questo telescopio soddisfa appieno le aspettative, non volevo spendere troppo perche' comunque lo faccio solo per passatempo e non ho grosse pretese, ma devo dire che mi ha soddisfatto pienamente. non ho ancora visto la luna perche' da quando mi e' arrivaoto la luna ha iniziato a sorgere sempre troppo tardi, pero' in queste notti sono riuscito a vedere chiaramente giove con 4 sue lune (e anche giove non e' solo un punto luminoso, si vedono 2 righe orizzontali rosse, l'occhio di giove invece non l'ho visto ma e' anche possibile che quelle volte che l'ho guardato, non era visibile da noi); saturno con il suo anello, e marte. le lenti sono tante, ovviamente conviene sempre partire da quella che ingrandisce meno (20mm) e magari se si ha difficolta' inizialmente si toglie pure la lente che inverte, perche' comunque anche quella ha un ulteriore zoom 1.5x, poi una volta centrato il pianeta che volete potete divertirvi a cambiare le ottiche per vederlo sempre meglio (sono arrivato ad usare anche la 4mm con la barlow e l'ottica che ribalta la visuale). chiaramente a questi livelli di zoom vi rendete conto di quanto ci muoviamo velocemente, quindi se non prendete un motore elettrico per seguire il pianeta, dovete farlo a mano, pero' si riesce a vedere bene, sopratutto marte e' corre davvero tanto. comunque se vedete nero non demordete, come prima cosa preoccupatevi (magari di giorno) di allineare il cercatore (quel piccolo canocchiale in alto), cosi' poi sara' molto piu' facile mirare il pianeta giusto. il treppiede e' molto bello e si alza davvero tanto, lunico difetto e' che orizzontalmente si muove molto facilmente anche tirando al massimo la vite, quindi magari basta urtarlo un po per spostare la visuale, invece verticalmente rimane molto fisso. all'interno della confezione ci sono pure le istruzioni, e sono fatte bene, spiega cosa e' possibile vedere (praticamente i nostri pianeti dovrebbero essere tutti visibili a parte plutone), spiega come si monta, come si fanno le prime osservazioni e come si allinea il cercatore (tra tutte le lingue c'e' pure l'italiano). all'interno della confezione non c'e' il collimatore laser (che serve ad allineare gli specchi), quindi va preso separatamente, per ora non ne ho avuto ancora la necessita' ma in futuro lo prendero'. concludo lasciando una buona parola anche per astroshop (il venditore), ho avuto un problema in quanto mi e' arrivato bozzato, e sono stati molto disponibili a trovare una soluzione per me molto comoda, quindi grazie. prodotto e venditore consigliati per chi si sta avvicinando a questo mondo, e vuole iniziare a vedere i principali pianeti senza spendere molto

Das Teleskop habe ich als echter Optik-Laie als Weihnachtsgeschenk für meinen Mann bestellt. Idee: Landschaftsbeobachtung von unserem Balkon aus. Ich dachte besser als ein Fernglas und stabil mit den Standfüßen. Noch dazu günstiger Preis und gute Bewertungen. Was ich nicht bedacht hatte: Die Vergrößerung ist selbst ohne die Barlow-Linse und mit dem am geringsten vergrößernden Okular so stark, dass man eher einzelne Baumblätter als den ganzen Baum sieht. Unglaublich. Ich musste lernen, dass das Gerät wirklich eher für astronomische Zwecke gedacht ist als für irdische Beobachtungen. Die Bildqualität fanden wir gut und Auf- und Abbau braucht zwar etwas Zeit geht aber auch als Laie problemlos, auch wenn die Anleitung etwas aufschlussreicher sein könnte. Wegen der zu starken Vergrößerung für unsere Zwecke geht das Teleskop an Seben zurück. Der Kundenservice antwortete schnell und freundlich auf die Rücksendeanfrage.

Facilissimo da montare, la prima volta ci sono riuscito in meno di un’ora. Non è molto difficile da usare; trovo però difficoltà ad allineare la montatura alla stella polare(anche perché da dove sto io non la vedo). Ieri è stata la prima volta che l’ho usato e sono riuscito a vedere Giove con le sue 4 lune e Saturno con l’oculare 6mm(senza barlow), anche se per poco perché praticamente scappavano via; non sembra, ma a quegli ingrandimenti ti accorgi che la terra ruota velocemente!!! Il cercatore non è molto stabile una volta fissato, forse sono io che non l’ho fissato bene; comunque mi sembra di aver capito che i segreti per una buona osservazione sono allineamento MANIACALE del cercatore e della montatura, e soprattutto tanta ma tanta pazienza! Credevo fosse più basso, ma se si aprono al massimo i tre piedi diventa più alto di me!!(sono alto 1.85). Buon prodotto per principianti, Lo consiglio davvero.
