Nizoral Anti Dandruff Shampoo, 60 ml - Pack of 2

Nizoral is effective IF the instructions are followed correctly. It needs time to bind to the hair and work on the scalp; so as suggested in the instructions, the 3 to 5 minutes rest with the shampoo applied before rinsing out are relevant. It only needs a small amount every other day for a fortnight to eliminate the fungal infection and then depending on lifestyle maybe once a week or three thereafter to prevent recurrence. On my normal infrequent usage a bottle lasts me about a year. I never had dandruff for the many decades before my barber retired, and I then needed to change to a new one. Within a week of my first haircut at the new barber I had the dandruff and itchy scalp, and the heavily advertised over-the-counter H&S shampoo I tried made things worse by causing an allergic reaction because it contained a pair of irritant cytotoxins (Methylchloroisothiazolinone and Methylisothiazolinone) intended as preservatives. Fortunately this Nizoral recommended by my doctor is free of MCI and MI, and my sensitive skin has not suffered any allergic reactions when using it. He suggested that as a test for the first application I used as little as possible to create the lather (just one drop necessary for my short hair in our soft water) and that I only let it settle for a minute before carefully rinsing it all out. I was lucky and did not react, and since then have followed the instructions in the leaflet. The contra-indications in the instructions are significant, and as many as one in a hundred of us could suffer some kind of adverse reaction. Remember to shake the bottle well before each application, because if left standing for a long time it can separate into a watery part and a thick part. After the first eight to ten days and only four or five hair-washes with Nizoral, my scalp was no longer itchy. For the last five years I have mostly been free of dandruff, but only because I now always wash with this immediately after a haircut. Another haircut is due soon, hence needing to buy some more...

Brilliant shampoo for itchy dry scalp

My daughter's dandruff was getting worse despite using Vosene and Head & Shoulders standard dandruff shampoos. Nizoral has worked really well with very few flakes left after only two washes. It is very expensive though considering that the bottle is only half full and I would imagine it would be difficult to get more than two or three washes out of it which is why it didn't get five stars.

Great for fungal scalp problems.

I have tried numerous types of anti dandruff shampoos. Some so called leading brands that footballers promote seem to make my situation much worse! I ahve paid for produnts that have been £20 a bottle then I found this in the local supermarket. you only got 60mls but the bottle lasts ages. You use a 5p sized ammount for 3-4 times a week for the first 2 weeks and then you go on to once a week. I use it 1-2 times a month after that and it kept the dandruff away. I stopped using it for a while because I though it had cleared up but dandruff came back with a vengance. I bought these as it came in a 2 pack and worked out cheaper as the supermarket charges nearly £7 a bottle. I used it thursday when I recieved it and the itching stopped. I've used it again today (sunday) and there is only a little dandruff. I know that when I use it a couple more times the problem will be gone just like it did before. Not much of a smell to it and has a soothing feel if you have the itchy scalp. I will always be using this from now on.

I’ve struggled with an itchy scalp for about 20 years I think (36yrs now). The itching would drive me crazy, especially at night. I could only use certain shampoos and even then, my scalp would need to be washed every two days otherwise I’d have crazy itching, smelly scalp and a layer of gross fungus. I believe it’s an underlying candida/fungal infection linked to my gut issues. Anyway, this shampoo is AWESOME. I only wash my hair once a week now. No crazy itching and I haven’t noticed the smell or layer of fungal growth much over that week. Literally feels like my head is more relaxed. I also tried what a couple of people suggested about applying the shampoo (just the lather) to my face for a related fungal infection/fungal spots and they have pretty much gone. Thank God I finally discovered this!
