This is a really great prime lens and highly recommended
I gave 1 star for "image stabilization" as this lens does not have that feature. TBH you don't need it on a lens like this. If your pictures are blurry, you need to look at your camera technique! So what's good about it?The picture quality from this lens is comparable to much more expensive lenses. It is significantly better than most kit lenses that come with DX nikon cameras. It has very low distortion and has a field of view comparable to what you see, so perfect for reportage, travel, landscapes etc. It's also really fast - i.e. it goes down to f1.8 which means you can shoot with a lower ISO and still have a good shutter speed in lower lighting. It also means you can shoot really professional looking portraits with a lovely blurry background or beautiful bokeh if you have christmas lights or such like about 20 feet or more behind the subject. The final comment is that this lens is very small and light, and is now my preferred 'default' lens if i'm out and about with the camera without a specific shot in mind. Being a prime lens, you can't zoom in or out, so you need to position yourself to get the best shot, and that encourages more creative photography I think. Great little lens for the money!

Nikon Quality
The more recent Nikon lenses seem to me to be getting more & more plastic'y feeling & actually do contain more plastic parts in a literal sense TBH & as such I feel the quality has begun to suffer. Having said that though I'm glad to say that this 35mm 1.8 G version lens feels not too bad considering it is mostly plastic. It feels reasonably weighted in the hands. I think it might actually prove to be a decent long term lens for me but that part is still a way off to determine but it does feel way way better made than it's more Plastic'y kit Lenses do that's for sure. As for actual performance well you get what's pretty much to be expected & that's an excellent 35mm prime capable of giving you nice crisp & sharp images & if Bokeh is your thing it'll give you that too. It performs particularly well in low light situations considering it's the 1.8 IMHO & I can't see much benefit to be had in going for the much more expensive 1.4 unless you really need Ultra low light use or are obsessed with getting some Ultra Bokeh looks going on. I bagged it for 135 off Amz UK so it's definitely a no brainer bargain 35mm 1.8 & you get your Nikon D7500 extended warranty. I can highly recommend it.

Great lens
Absolutely love this lens. Only had it a day but already very impressed. I took this pic at f/1.8 to create the blurring effect. Picture clarity is great and the autofocus works beautifully, silently. Great value for money. Camera - D5600.

Great portrait & universal lens that backfocuses on Nikon d5500. Beware
As the tile of my review states. This lens backfocuses on my D5500 and it forces me to use the focus ring to adjust the focus every time. You can compensate by moving back a bit and after time you`ll get used to it. That`s what iget for the money. However i know it is not my camera`s fault or the lens` fault. It is just that it doesnt work well with some DX cameras. I hear it works well with 7000 series. Way to fix it is to calibrate your lens and camera but since the d5500 doesn`t have such a setting called AF fine tune (which 7000 series cameras do have) you have to manually calibrate at a specialized Nikon center. My other lenses work fine so i decided to keep this one but learn to adjust the focus manually. You can be in Autofocus mode, focus on subject and step back or use your focus ring. You`ll get used to how much adjustment you have to make after time. But that`s it overall. Lens is perfect otherwise. It has some chromatic abberation but that is fixable in Lightroom.Lens comes with everything described on the pictures. It`s a great purchase. Only minus is the backfocusing issue and no VR.

Pro level portraits.
Loving this lense for portait photography. Quick autofocus and lets a ton of light in letting me use a lower iso. Well worth the money.

Great portrait lens.
Great lens. Very small, light and well put together. Extremely sharp and ideal for portraits but.......it's a very good landscape lens as well! Great value for money.
