well Nicolle is the master - one cannot beat his expertise on all aspects of medieval warfare - his massive books on archeological material are fundamental - as always the illustrations here are excellent

Good coverage of a wide timeframe and geographies. Excellent review of Italian city states to Scottish schiltrons which can link to more specific Osprey titles. Bibliography to take your interest further

Good popular history. Richly illustrated, competently written review of the Infantry Revolution of the Late Middle Ages. Covers most of the bases, but rather oddly has only limited discussion of the Hussite armies. For the general reader, not the professional history

Creo que es un libro muy completo, incluye tácticas de diversos ejércitos europeos, muy buenas ilustraciones. Lo recomiendo ampliamente para los interesados en historia militar.

very good book, i have the first version as well. both are good and work with each other.

I was disappointed by this book. I usually like the Osprey series, as they present a great deal of material in a short, readable format, with diagrams illustrating various battles and the tactics employed therein. Unfortunately, I found the illustrations in this book dark, and the print too small for comfortable reading. This was especially true of the battle illustrations, which could have been very good had they been twice as big as they were. Instead, the book has a cramped feeling about it. Generally, I love reading about military tactics used in actual battles, but I just could not follow the diagrams.

Non e' sicuramente colpa dell'autore che e' un grande esperto ma della casa editrice che sta scadendo. Sembra un libro per bambini con disegni approssimativi e immagini inutili. E' un libro semplicemente divulgativo per un neofita.

Osprey have the market well covered with factual history material all ways a good read. Pick your subject as if you are not fully interested in the subject they can be hard going . Illustrations excellent
