If you buy this you can't go wrong a lot for so little as it is £80 less then what I paid for my first box set which now my son has as I wanted the smaller packaging, the only problem with the smaller packaging it doesn't form a picture when the cases are put together but does save a lot of space. Incredibly good!
Back in the 70's I recorded some episodes of the Hulk on an audio cassette as this was the only way I could "own" my own copy. Now we have this fantastic box set of crystal clear episodes of a series that dared to be a little different and really stood out from the other tv shows around at the time. Packaged in a sturdy box featuring a sound button "don't make me angry", this neatly contains 12 separate dvd cases containing a total of 24 discs. Every original series episode is here and a few interesting bonus features too. Having previously bought series 1 and 2 separately, I decided this would be a good way the buy the remaining three series with the added advantage of the whole set being stored in one box. I'm really glad I did as it beats the separates easily. There is an air of melancholy that pervades the series as David Banner searches for a cure for his affliction and some genuinely sad moments rarely seen in television of this genre. Some episodes contain some light relief while others have very un-Hollywood downbeat endings. Dr Banner does seem to get beaten up with alarming frequency regardless of which job he takes. I have been working for 35 years and this has never happened. That said, I have great affection for this series, the stories, the cinematography and a likeable star in Bill Bixby. The entire original series in one classy box. Enjoy at your leisure.

A very enjoyable trip down memory lane
This entertaining US TV drama series was first broadcast in the late 1970's, opening with the feature-length pilot, which is more scientific in content than the rest of the series. The story begins when Dr David Banner (Bill Bixby) attempts to tap into the hidden strength that lies within himself that humans possess, he regrettably decides to proceed with the experiment alone, without the usual assistance of colleague Dr Elaina Marks (Susan Sullivan), when the experiment goes wrong, David then discovers that when he becomes angry or upset he transforms into the super-strong, green Hulk, (played by Lou Ferrigno). And when investigative newspaper reporter, Jack McGee (Jack Colvin) becomes obsessed with discovering the true identity of the Hulk, David Banner has to keep moving on, having been declared officially dead. The pursuit of Banner by the doggedly determined McGee is reminiscent of the 60's US TV series "The Fugitive", when comparing David Banner to Richard Kimble, and Jack McGee with Lt Gerard. Banner usually morphs into the Hulk a couple of times in each of the 50-minute episodes, as he finds himself in a different town or place in each story, where he often helps people in trouble or with their problems. While searching for a cure for his condition, Banner must keep one step ahead of the persistant McGee, who usually shows up at the location of any sighting of the Hulk. I've always enjoyed watching this series, which features an excellent central performance from Bill Bixby, whose kind and friendly David Banner was apparently mirrored in real life, with many speaking of Mr Bixby with great affection, I was saddened on hearing the news of his death in 1993, at the age of only 59. This complete collection of five series is made up of the following: 3 feature-length episodes - The Pilot./ Death In The Family./ Married. 3 two-part stories - Mystery Man./ Prometheus./ The First. 73 fifty-minute episodes. There's a very welcome bonus disc, which includes features on the creation, the success, and remembering the Incredible Hulk. With commentaries on selected episodes. Picture and sound quality are good. My only gripe is with the fact that there's no booklet, no episode synopsis, and no subtitles, but this is still a great buy.

Dislike Packaging but series is fantastic
Love this series, been watching it daily. Nearly finishing series 4. I don't like this economy packaging though as the discs fall out and are piled on top of each other. Sadly the luxury Playback version is hardly available anymore that houses each disc in a slimline case. That is what I would have preferred with this set so the only thing is having to put up with horrid, cheap packaging. I think its a shame. Just a note if you are after the luxury version, don't bother as other companies are picturing it but sending out this version instead.

Don't make him angry!
Scientist David Banner accidentally overdoses on gamma radiation during an experiment and when he becomes outraged or angry transforms into a monster. Based on the Marvel comics though it bares little resemblance to the original comics with The Hulk fighting ordinary crooks and villains and none of the comic book villains with reporter Jack McGee the only character from the comics apart from Banner in the TV series who is obsessed with catching The Hulk and even Banner's name has changed from Bruce Banner in the comics to David Banner while the series itself has become a serious Fugitive type show with Banner going from town to town after faking his death under a different name in each episode and helping people. It still holds up very well with Bill Bixby excellent as Banner and Lou Ferrigno as his alter ego, The Hulk with Jack Colvin as reporter Jack McGee who obsessively chases The Hulk. McGee's not evil but he's convinced that The Hulk is dangerous. In the 70's and early 80's this was the only Marvel show that was a genuine success with failed attempts at Spiderman, Doctor Strange and Captain America TV shows while DC had a hit with Wonder Woman, this series actually easily matches the best of today's superhero TV shows and is one of the all time TV greats. All 81 episodes across 5 seasons including the 2 feature length pilot episodes are included. 3 TV movies came after the series but aren't included here that finished the TV series off.

****BUYER BEWARE****
This DVD will not play in Canada and there is no warning in the description. I had to pay for the return. Also, I only got a portion back on the refund. It was so disappointing!! I got a 50% refund of the original cost but had to PAY TO SHIP it back. They gave me $5 back on the $20 shipping cost. So, in the end, I only got about 25% of $81.62 back. How can something COMPLETELY USELESS be sold and then I ended up losing lots of money on it even though I returned it? It is a scam!! DO NOT TRUST THIS SELLER!!
