Good product and good value for money
I don't often write product reviews because they can be very subjective, and what works for one person doesn't always work for someone else. However, some time ago I purchased and assembled a similar set of shelving to these for a friend, only from a well-known manufacturer and considerably more expensive than these, with a higher "weight-per-shelf" rating. Having recently decided that I needed a set of shelves myself for the garage, I knew that the 175kg rating per shelf for these would be acceptable, but I had initial reservations about the build quality due to the much lower price. I need not have worried. I bought a single 900 mm x 400 mm 5-shelf bay, and the assembly was just as easy and straightforward as the more expensive ones that I had built before. Also I was very impressed with the quality of the materials. The metal might be a slightly lighter gauge, but this is to be expected as the weight-rating is lower. However, once assembled I found the structure to be extremely sturdy and rigid. There is no flexing of the framework, and I don't anticipate any problems as long as the shelves are not overloaded beyond their recommended capacity. As I only had the one bay, I didn't need to join two bays together. If you feel that you need to do this, then from my previous experience of erecting three similar bays for my friend I would have to say that I didn't find the little clips that join the bays together to work very well. They had the effect of preventing all four of the plastic feet on each bay from sitting on the floor, by causing the outermost feet to "rise up" and "float" in the air whilst the whole assembly "rocked" from side to side on the middle feet. I have no reason to suppose that these would be any different, and I would suggest that if you require multiple bays, you would find it better to leave some space between them, and order more wall-fixing brackets (if required), to attach each bay individually. However, all in all an excellent product with a good, clear instruction booklet enclosed, and very good value for money from G-Rack.

Sturdy when put together with good, clear instructions
Garage Shelving Units: 180cm x 90cm x 40cm Bought just one of these units initially for garage storage as I wanted to see what they were like. The parts are all of pressed metal which I thought might be a bit flimsy, but once together they make a strong, rigid frame. It requires no tools other than a rubber mallet and a reasonable sized open space - no nuts and bolts, the parts just slot together. The MDF shelves are rather thin, so take care not to overload them and make sure loads are spread evenly across each shelf where possible (heavier items should be located at the bottom of the unit). The mid-shelf support struts should help prevent any sagging. Some reviews i've seen said that the MDF shelves have gone mouldy - it's too early to tell whether that will happen in my case, but as my garage is dry and well ventilated I don't anticipate any problems. I intend to fasten the units to a wall using the pre-drilled holes. This will give additional rigidity and avoid risk of toppling (obviously some basic tools will be required for this, i.e. drill, screwdriver, decent sized rawl-plugs and screws). It's not often I leave a review but I'm impressed with these and have ordered two more after putting together the first one on my own in around an hour. Would have done it quicker but my dog was trying to help! Having a second person to hold the frame for the initial part of the construction would have been helpful but with care it can be done by one person. It's also refreshing to have a proper instruction booklet in well written English, with photographs at each stage of construction - it gives that bit of extra confidence when opening a box of bits!

Good product at a great price. Buy a rubber mallet though.
Bought 3 ofvthese racks to replace some old plastic racks which were sagging. The racks are easy to assemble and once fully built look good and are sturdy, especially connected together using the bay connectors supplied. The first rack took about 1 hour to build using the instructions and the next racks took about 15 minutes each (it’s easy when you know how of course) - don’t join the vertical supports together at the beginning as it’s awkward and much easier to build lower section completely then add the top. Very easy to do, good quality and design for the price. Not sure how well the mdf shelves will wear or last over time and think a damp resistant ply could be stronger and more durable (time will tell). Lastly you need a rubber mallet to assemble quickly and safely.

These shelves are great value for money
These shelves are great value for money, full stop. Ok, if you are a member of the snow flake generation you may want to gain some assistance from an older member of your family or perhaps someone who has a tiny pinch of common sense. I went through a load of reviews before I bought these racks and let me address a few of the negative points that were highlighted. Sharp edges, I read reviews from people who claim that if you dont wear gloves you will cut your hands. Honestly I cannot understand what these people were trying to do, the only remotely sharp edges are at the very ends of the uprights and the long and short cross pieces. If your hands are those of person, who considers hard work, taping on a keyboard all day then soaking your tried poorly little paws in lavender oil, then yes you might want to avoid these areas but you don't have to touch them anyway and if you are, your doing it wrong !! Bending the tab, oh my Lord what hardship could be worse than having to put a tiny bit of pressure on a flexible piece of metal with your thumb , I can't imagine the distress this must cause, oh but yes I can because I have read some of the idiotic reviews. Look at the price you have just paid, this is not perfectly engineered, it's not a Lego set, it does require some very occasional, slight adjustment but its far from rocket science and if you have half a grain of common sense in your head , I'm pretty sure you can manage to assemble these shelves. You do not need two people to assembly this, it is helpful granted but just prop it against a wall, very simple, a degree in mechanical engineering is not required, just get on with it. They are not hard to assemble, they are incredibly simple and well thought out, just a standard design you would find on far more expensive units. Perhaps the instructions could be clearer for those who struggle to boil a kettle or tie there shoe laces, again perhaps you have a regular carer who can take on the burden of this task for you. So in summary what you get for the pittance you have paid is a strong and sturdy shelving unit, that isn't high end quality but does a perfectly good job and I suspect could be assembled by a chimpanzee with flat blade screwdriver and a rubber mallet. Buy them and man or women up, then you have just got yourself a bargin and if the shelves are going to be in an area that will expose the mdf to moisture seal them with a coat of varnish, simples.

I’d buy these time and time again!
I’d buy these again and again! This is my 3rd purchase of these products, and they are bloomin great for the garage! So easy to put together, like ann easy to fit mechano set and once constructed feel very sturdy for all my storage needs! They really tidy up my garage, and are super versatile - this last one I didn’t put the bottom shelf floor in and used it to store camp chairs, tripods and all those vertical items that are tricky to store - worked a treat and elevated the tidiness of my garage. I’ve added the images of my other one (in blue) which are the longer versions. Both are great, possibly prefer the longer ones but it’s all about space which to choose - the product is just as functional.

First class!
I bought two of these units to give me some order to the stuff I chuck in the garage. Assembling the first one took forever because I was on my own and needed an extra pair of hands. However, I managed. Building the second one was easier and quicker. I was on my own again but I realised that it’s easier to stand the uprights against a wall for assembly rather than have them laying flat. That way they don’t disassemble themselves when you hit them with a rubber mallet because they have something solid at the opposite end your hitting. In fact building them using the upright method was a lot easier. You’ll see from the pictures that I didn’t bother with the top shelf because the clearance to the shelf on the wall above was too small. I also left off the front top crossbar. The only other problem I encountered was the tendency of some leaves to come out the side of the upright (see picture 2) instead of going through the intended slot. It happened a few times and I just left it in case I snapped the leaf off bending it back. I don’t think it’s weakened it any. Overall I’m impressed with the solidity of the structure and the weight it can take. When I’ve cleared some more junk I think I’ll get a third one.

Fab Shelves, Easy to Assemble
I bought these shelves as my shed was a disgrace, after taking out an oversized bench there was nowhere to store anything. I wanted deeper shelves as we have a beer fridge so 30cm would not have been practical. My other half works offshore and was away when the shelves arrived. It does say on the instructions that you should have at least two people for assembly, however I could not wait, so set about assembly myself. I had no problems at all, took me just over an hour, but my work space was a shed with the contents all over the floor!! The unit went together without a hitch, I must say I was a bit concerned because during assembly it felt a little flimsy, but by the time I got it all together it was really sturdy. I taped a rag around the hammer during assembly. I cant praise these shelves enough, they hold so much, and have transformed a cluttered space that I could barely walk through, into a surprisingly spacious area. I am delighted, and would not hesitate to buy these again.

Looks the part so far...
Decided to plump for this unit as I was using an old Ikea unit in the shed. Read past reviews and went for it. Some reviews on this unit and others from similar brands say it took people over 2hrs? Really?? An hour at most it took start to finish and with nothing but a rubber mallet and a screwdriver (More later). Slots easy enough together and with some assistance from the mallet on the feet and cross bars. Didn’t seem that sturdy to begin with but as you progress it does become more and more. Wouldn’t say it’s THE best unit you can buy, but if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful bit of storage for the garage/shed, it’s ideal. Not too heavy after finishing it, so can easily move it from one space to the next. One thing I’m considering is the plaster boards are 1/4 inch, considering installing 1/2 inch instead, just for peace of mind. Otherwise, I’m considering getting another maybe 120cm width for more storage and a cleaner shed. ***At stage 10 if you’re following the instructions, bend the hooks on the crossbars before slotting them in, otherwise it’s very difficult to bend them back. By pre bending them, it’s much easier to push a screwdriver behind and bend them fully so they won’t fall out***
