A must have for every espresso guru
I recently added the IKAPE Espresso Puck Screen to my espresso brewing routine, and I must say, it has become an indispensable companion to my daily coffee ritual. Here's why I believe it's a fantastic addition to any espresso enthusiast's toolkit:The puck screen has significantly improved the smoothness of my espresso extractions. One of the standout features of this puck screen is its ability to keep the brew head clean. Placing it in the portafilter before extraction is a simple yet effective step to prevent coffee grounds from sticking to the shower screen. This not only maintains the hygiene of your machine but, also ensures a consistent and clean taste in every shot. I was impressed by the craftsmanship of the puck screen. The excellent filtering effect ensures a rich and full-bodied espresso while preventing water flow issues like channeling and spraying. Cleaning the puck screen is a breeze – a quick rinse after each use ensures its readiness for your next shot.In conclusion, the IKAPE Espresso Puck Screen is a high-quality, well-crafted accessory that elevates the espresso brewing experience. Its compatibility, ease of use, and durability make it a standout choice for anyone serious about achieving the perfect espresso shot. Highly recommended!

Keeps the Group head screen clean
The media could not be loaded. I'm a newbie to the espresso world. I usually dose at 18 grams. With this screen, I dose at 17.5 grams for some screen room.It seems to keep the group head screen much cleaner.

I don't see a change in extraction but the portafilter basket did come out very clean.
The media could not be loaded. I thought I would try to integrate a puck screen into my espresso workflow. Not being too familiar with puck screens, I gave it my best shot. I ran the service boiler water on the puck screen just to give it a slight wash, after having received it. There looked to be a good amount of head room in my portafilter basket, to allow space for the added puck screen.Pulling the shot using the puck screen, I did find that there tended to be radial lines of "balding" areas during the beginning of the shot, that I don't receive when not using the puck screen. These balding areas do close up during the middle of the extraction. The brewed espresso shot was made into an Americano which tasted very balanced and in keeping with the flavor notes of the coffee I was brewing. There was no spurting or visible channeling produced, when using the puck screen. The puck, after extraction, looked to have a consistent pattern of color, showing it had a consistent extraction. While using the puck screen, I did notice that the shower screen and the portafilter basket was kept much more free of residual grounds. That made it easier to clean the shower screen and the basket. The not so great side, is when trying to clean the shower screen. I would run water from the service boiler, on top of one side of the puck screen. That did leave a bit of coffee oils left on the bottom side. Once the screen was washed, it is a little hot to handle, but definitely manageable, when placing it in the basket to pull the next shot. I'd have to work with this shower screen over a longer period of time to see if the workflow becomes easier or the shower screen becomes more integral when working with different roast levels of beans, or whether it turns out it works better for single shot extractions. There is so much to investigate, in order to determine whether this ends up working in my espresso workflow.

A Finer Screen
Generally I like Ikape coffee gear. Although it's mostly too metallic for. But for this puck screen....not sure. The screen itself is tighter than the Flair 58. But I use it with an E61 group. Seems to be ok. A little harder to clean because the mesh is so fine.

Does it's job and fits perfectly
I'm getting much better pulls on my espresso and they hit the perfect mark each time now. Works great in my Breville Barista Express.

Quality Puck Screen
You will get what you expect with this product - an expresso puck screen. Prior to receiving this product, I had not used a puck screen with my espresso machine (Breville Barista Express) so I cannot compare this product with other brands of puck screens, however I did notice an immediate difference when comparing between using no puck screen and using this product. I can't empirically say if this difference had a noticeable positive impact on the quality of my espresso shots, however what it certainly did do is increase my shot extraction time which is something I was struggling with while using my newest beans. It also does decidedly do a great job of keeping the shower screen of the espresso machine clean; this is something that could be simply wiped off after each use but I found that I did not routinely do this and this product abridges my espresso making experience by one step. I also noticed that with my machine, I was frequently seeing that the resultant pucks after pulling a shot would still be wet and "muddy", sometimes even having a small layer of water on top of the puck - this does not happen at all with the shower screen which makes the pucks come out much cleaner and easier.Overall I rate this product as 5 starts because it resolves a few specific problems I was having in my expresso workflow. If you do not experience these problems yourself, then I doubt you will notice any significant differences between using a puck screen and not using one. I would also like to note that this product claims to have a 100μm thickness in the product title, yet the "About Item" section states 150μm. I do not have the instrument necessary to test this claim so I am not sure which measurement is correct, nor am I sure how much this parameter matters in a puck screen.
