The appearance gives you a homemade vibe when you unbox it. But it works as designed.Our carpet had a LOT of pulled strands sticking up because our cat uses the carpet as a scratching post. After a few minutes of trial and error, I got into a rhythm and shaved the rug down to an even level. It works best going in one direction. Your job is to find out what direction that is. Be careful when trimming. If you lean on it a bit more than required, it will get to a spot and dig into the carpet cutting more than you had wanted. It's not too noticeable, but it could if it happens enough. Just start slowly and you'll figure out the best way that works for you.I'd set the height so that the clipper is a tiny bit higher than the base plate; not even with it. This way, you adjust how much pressure you use to push down on it to catch the loose strands to cut.But overall, well worth the money as it does what it's designed to do.

Good product and worked splendidly on carpets. I use it as a personal groomer too.

We used this to trim down pet damage moving out of a rental. Landlord was ready to charge us costly carpet repairs. The device worked well. There’s a knob to modulate speed for different carpet types. It had a ton of attachments. I recommend it if you have some carpet to repair. Get yourself a nice carpet cleaner too or rent one.

This is not my first time using this type of trimmer. Not a good purchase this time. Trimmer does not properly fit in wooden guide with blue grip attached to trimmer. Had to remove blue grip to function semi properly. (blue grip is too thick to be inserted into the wood which has no wiggle room) Trimmer head itself was loose and wobbling with first hour of use. Ultimately trimmer head completely came off. Would not recommend for heavy carving job. Could not withstand daily use.

Good cheap clippers for trimming carpets.

The clippers are perfect. The shave guide that comes with the clippers however does not fit. This was the ONLY reason I got this. If I wanted just the clippers I would have ORDERED just the clippers. So all the extra money spent was pointless. It's too big with the rubber grip, too small without it, just falls through once tightened. This design is horrible to boot. The plexiglass should be more even with the blade, all it does is dig deeper and deeper until there IS NO RUG. What a waste.
