Maybe technical overkill!!
I already owned a MiVue 652 WiFi and that has lasted a number of years under harsh conditions, so I was more than happy to replace it with a newer model. I purchased this for the night vision quality, which I must say was excellent on the old model too. Installation is easier than the 652 as the cable sits directly on top of the unit, not threaded through the windscreen mount. A much improved design. Why I have stated 'Maybe technical overkill' is because my car already has all the features that this comes loaded with, so i am paying for things I don't really need, but having said that the dashcam is in my opinion good value. The only issue I have really have is that the screen by default is permanently on and that is a big difference between this model and the 652. Also the 652 shows the speed all the time when not displaying the actual current image. The 692 by default is the reverse and when you turn the screen off, which I like to do for night driving, there is no speed displayed so you I am currently checking to see if it works. Apart from that minor gripe MiVue is a good quality product that I have tried and tested over years so I am more than happy with the purchase. I have had fitted the hard wired kit for over 4.5 years and that is a must in my opinion.

Not quite what the title suggests.
With me giving this unit 5 stars for picture quality, Ease if installation and ease of use, why only 4 stars overall? It mounts very easily on the windscreen, detaching easily (when needed) with a magnetic clip, has very good low-light capabilities, is easy to use - but has two flaws that I feel are 'biggies'. Yes, it's got WiFi, but it doesn't connect to a web-connected car at all - it broadcasts its own WiFi for an Apple/Android device to access the pictures and recordings with; that's it. Furthermore, although the device does use an encrypted connection, there's no facility to change the hotspot name, nor change the encryption password (I suspect common to all devices), leaving the device easily accessed to locate the owner's 'home', haunts, etc by hackers - a serious privacy breach.Update: March 2019. With no capability to update the speed camera database or firmware directly from the web, the unit needed to be updated by copying the new firmware/database to a micro SD card at home, then inserting this into the device and turning the device on - certainly not the most efficient way of updating!

Too Many Tradeoffs.
I am starting to regret this purchase.Tradeoff no. 1. It can record at either 30 or 60 fps. I chose this as 60 fps gives a clearer video view. However, If you set it to record ar 60 fps, it will not allow you to download video to your phone on its wi-fi system. This is by design. If you try to download, it will automatically set the recording default back to 30 fps.Tradeoff no. 2. It has a parking mode, which you can enable by purchasing and installing a hardwire kit for your car. I did this and started to use it. The first time that I parked overnight, I found that my battery was flat in the morning. You can set the hardwire kit switches to make the system stop at a pre-determined voltage. I have had to increase my minimum voltage from 11.6V to 12V, in order to stop my battery being flattened. This now has the effect of only allowing the parking mode to work for three hours. This is OK in a supermarket car park, but for overnight parking, it is useless. The camera and it's associated hardware is quite sturdy and well made. The video playback is good, only if you don't use the phone download option.I think that it is too expensive for the crippled functions that are supplied.

Warning! You can't add software upgrades using mainstream SD cards
Pros – good picture – reliable operation – I've now installed the add-on rear camera.Cons – – I'm adding this here – as well as the comments below I've now tried to add a software upgrade and I find that (having wasted money buying a SanDisk SD card customer support advise me that SanDisk and Samsung ST cards won't work for a software upgrade or update. This information was not available when I purchased this and I shall be advising Which magazine to withdraw their 'best buy' designation. Very poor external design – occupies much more of the windscreen then it could – absolutely not discreet – and even have the cheek to say in the small print "to discourage theft do not leave the device and accessories in plain view in an unattended vehicle" – what do they expect me to do – install it every time I use the car. Cables are also much thicker than necessary which again makes the installation less discreet. If this does get stolen, I'm certainly not buying another one.

one or two things missing
pro: the camera is awesome in full bright daylight but also at nightcons: no touch screen, wifi very slow and it switches the camera to 30fps (if you had ti set to 60fps), tpms usless (not that i care about that since i have it on my car as well), TOO THICK cables

Mio 792 Dash Cam
Purchased this Mio 792 dash cam and it has been superb. I am now going to order another one for my wife's car.It has been so reliable picture of excellent quality and easy to set up and configure settings. I could not find the setting to change kph to mph but phoned customer service and they were quick to respond so easy to change when instructed in settings.. My wife's dash cam is so temperamental and often needs to be turned off then back on to make it work it was a cheaper version of a different make but the Mio is definitely worth the extra expense.
