Easy to know it was right, easy to put on.
This was a simple but embarrassing purchase; I used my new pressure cooker ONCE, took the ring off for the washing after, and never saw it again. Still haven't, even though Murphy insists that lost things show up after you buy a new one. The selection of rings from Hawkins was substantial, but the descriptions made it easy to choose the right one, it came, it fit, it conquered: I cooked a pot of lentils in 15 minutes, amazing. This time, I watched the ring VERY closely when I took it off for the wash, and it's in the drawer with the lid. Again, I recommend Hawkins for the clever, simple design of pot and lid that overcomes the old 12-pound twist on option.

Does Not Fit 2 Liter
1 Star review is for the item description, not the product itself. Product is advertised to fit 2L Hawkins pressure cooker. It does not fit my Hawkins 2 L pressure cooker which requires a 5.5" inside diameter gasket x 0.166" diameter (slightly larger than 1/8"). The one supplied was 2-3/4" diameter x 1/8" thick. To confuse matters the description also reads 4" x 4" x 1" which is also totally incorrect- may be the dimension of the packaging. There are older reviews that state it was 5.5" dia that fit. I wonder if there was a product design change (e.g the older 2L pressure cooker was shorter and fatter and the newer ones were taller and skinnier with a smaller lid that has a smaller gasket but Hawkins didn't revise the gasket model #. The website needs to clearly show the exact size of the gasket (5.5") and thickness (1/8") for all Hawkins gaskets. Product return request made and they provided credit but no other response. Too many people complaining about gasket not fitting and not corrective action. UPDATE: I did more research and found that the O-Ring is the same as Pentair water filter o-ring (see images). It is 5.5" inner diameter, 0.166" thick (this is close to a standard #254 o-ring, but #254 is only 1/8" thick- may be too thin?). The last 4 images are for this larger o-ring, also purchased on Amazon. The last 2 photos show the o-rings on top of each other. You can use a pointed knife to pry out the old o-ring from the lid and hand press the new one in. It is slightly loose- I filled the pot with 1/2" water, put the lid on with new o-ring, and heated/ pressurized the unit, ran for ~ 10 minutes. This helps set the o-ring. Always make sure good alignment of the ring, lid, and pot for a good seal. BTW, the O-rings lose their elasticity with age, become hard, and loose their ability to seal, thus why you need to replace,

Works Fine. Needs to be Stretched a Bit
This replacement is fine. Out of the package it is a little stiff. You just have to run some hot water over it and gently stretch it. Then it will fit fine. I had no trouble with it. I do however wish the would make these from fluorescent green or orange silicone--they are easy to loose.

Was it the gasker or the pot?
My pressure cooker started leaking steam so I figured it must be the gasket, but after installing a brand new one, the pot leaked just the same. So even though I've never banged the pot around or abused it in any way, it appears that a new gasket wont fix the problem. I cant give this gasket a high or low rating because I dont know which one is the problem.... gasket or pot?
