I was worried about getting it on gemstones at first, but have applied it, either on purpose or as a consequence of polishing nearby metal, to turquoise, mother of pearl, smoky quartz, and sugilite, with no apparent damage. I found myself gathering up metallic things from all over my house, eager to see what they would look like after using Maas on them! I bought the 8 oz. bottle, and I've only used a fraction of it. It really is a bargain. It's a little hard to get used to the best way to use it, because it's not like other products. Use just a tiny bit. Rub it all over the item with your hands. If there are small crevices or depressions on the surface, an old toothbrush is good to scrub in the cracks with. If the item is large, you might want to do a section at a time. Then, immediately, start rubbing or buffing the surface with something like a piece of old terrycloth towel. The more you rub, the shinier it will be, but it doesn't really take long to get an amazing shine. Rub off any residue, and just let me see you TRY not to say "WOW!" If the item is intended for use with food, you should wash it, but it may stay shiny longer if you allow a film of Maas to remain on it. This is the best metal polish I have ever seen. But after I did my silver goblets, when the other silver stuff didn't work that is..... I decided to use it on my kitchen stainless steel sink. Omg I was blown away.
