“But Sometimes Life Is A Circle And Leads Back To The Beginning…”
This is a story not unlike many of Vi Keeland’s writings, which means it is filled with tenderness, heartache, and inspirational moments. Evie and Merrill both are burdened with baggage from past relationships and life’s cruel sequence of events resulting from these love connections. Their characters are well developed. The secondary characters, especially Kitty (aka Grams), added SO much to the story. I simply love insightful, feisty seniors! Kitty refused to “act her age” which makes her so lovable. One of her pearls of wisdom, during a conversation with Merrill, after he told Grams he’s not afraid to fall in love was a follow up statement to him. “I think you’re afraid you won’t be loved back.” That line stuck with me for the remainder of the story.Evie and Merrill’s relationship included both an emotional and sexual bond. My pet peeve in romance novels is when professional decorum takes a back seat to sexual attraction and sex. I never appreciated office sex during work hours. Just not my thing. This story crossed that line for me. Other than that it was a good read and there was also an entertaining Audible narration. The epilogue followed up by a flashback cemented this story for me. Warmed my heart and made for a beautiful conclusion. I do recommend this book.

more heart than everything else combined
A meet cute involving rogue cherries, some armpit smelling, and a gorgeous but jerky guy are just the start of the LOL between Evie and her now new boss Merrick.Merrick absolutely was against hiring for the new position. What to do? Why, hire the least experienced candidate of course. But when she turns out to be the gorgeous woman, the one on whom he barged in earlier, he can't help but fall for her, even though mixing business with pleasure is out of the question. His baggage combined with hers, an off-limits situation, all mean this couple shouldn't end up working. But if his awesome but meddling grandma has her way, he won't be letting Evie go.Ah these two! I literally laughed out loud reading their snark and witty dialogue. They were so funny, fighting their feelings and attraction to each other. But there was an undercurrent of heaviness, as both their baggage was bubbling under the surface of all the fun. Their journey was signature of this author - loads of humor, fiery chemistry, just as excellent secondary characters as the leads, and most significantly, more heart than everything else combined. I never fail to fall in love with her writing, her characters, her stories, and Evie and Merrick are another couple to put on the shelf in my heart where all of her worlds reside.

But sometimes life is a circle and leads back to the beginning..
Wow. Evie and Merrick had my attention from the very beginning. Evie coming out of a humiliating wedding and Merrick fighting his own ghosts. I loved their banter from the very start. Evie had no trouble saying what was on her mind and it was so refreshing to see. She didn’t buckle under any type of pressure and she was so much stronger because of her last. Merrick was a very successful business man. He had everything…even secrets. He was trying to let go of the past but also shielded himself from being loved. It took a meeting in a Home Goods for all of the secrets to come out. My heart broke for him. I truly didn’t see that coming and I just crumbled with him. Evie knew those secrets could hold him back from ever loving her and she was willing to let that go to make sure she had her happiness and her happily ever after. This book was everything. I was sucked in from the beginning and it held me, even after the the words “The End” The Zig was definitely worth the Zag and they were destined from a very early age. Make sure you read after the end.

Absolutely Loved It!
No cliffhangerStandaloneTold from both POVsBoss/Employee RomanceI absolutely loved this book. I was hooked from the first chapter and didn’t want to put it down. I don’t know how Vi Keeland does it but she continues to tell stories that are mesmerizing and all feel different.Evie and Merrick are strangers who meet in the most awkward way. Only made more awkward when a few minutes later she realizes she is interviewing with him to work for his company.Their chemistry is immediate, even if it is mostly hostile. But over time, and with the help of a meddling grandmother they grow closer. The major issue is they both have more baggage than JFK. Can they both move past their biggest fears and be together or will past wounds continue to rip them apart?I don’t want to give too much away because the twists and turns of their baggage is what makes this book what it is.It is a 1000% a must read! I’m just sad it is over. I want more of their epilogue! I also want to know what happened when she went to lunch with her ex!!!!

3.5
I love most of Vi Keeland's books. This was no exception. I love the banter between the characters and the humor. I know she had to get to the HEA but I think k the h should have made the H work a bit harder after hurting her so badly.

What a beautiful story!
I’m not sure I can find the words to give this book justice. It was just so good. This story doesn’t feel like a romance novel. It feels like a real story where two people are going through the challenges of life, and just happen to meet and fall in love. Something about the way Vi Keeland writes her novels always makes me consumed by the story, and fall for the main characters along the way. I care about them individually before I care about them as a potential couple. This wasn’t a novel about Merrick and Evie, it was a story about Merrick and a story about Evie. They just happened to find their missing piece while life was happening around them. When Vi’s stories break your heart, it’s always because of circumstance. It’s not someone making an immature or silly mistake, it’s very real. It makes sense. It’s easy to see how things go wrong. I think what I loved most about this story is the healing that happened for both Merrick and Evie, and how it made them better versions of themselves. This was a really beautiful story and I’m so happy to have read it

GOOD LOVE STORY
I was confused when I first started reading this book because the beginning, i.e. the bing cherry stains, the dressing room and the man crashing into it, we're almost identical to the same beginnings in another of the author's books which I had just finished. The scene was just as funny in this book! Evie is a Doctor in the field of Psychology and has applied for an in-house job at a broker's firm. Her surrogate grandmother's grandson owns the business and recommends Evie to him. Merrick feels the last thing he needs is an in-house counselor but hires her because she is the least qualified. This sets the tone for their start to a relationship. Not all is roses and sunshine and this couple has a few hurdles ahead but all in all this is a very good romantic read.

liefdevol verhaal
Het starte met wat gekibbel en in het midden een val uit maar met goede communicatie kom je een heel end en dat was dus echt heel goed geschreven. Een fijn verhaal voor het slapen gaan.
