Nothing Special

Firstly I have to say that I almost never actually buy e-books, enjoying them instead through KU or library e-service loans. But I loved this series so much that I bought them all. I was introduced to A.E. Via via a promotion that offered Secrets in my Scowl free, and enjoyed it enough that I went looking for more by the same author. I found Nothing Special and like the sample enough to buy the book, and next thing you know I've bought and read all of them in the space of a few days.Is it perfect? No, there were a few editing/proofreading mistakes in every book, although not as many as some of the older reviews complain about; I believe it's been re-edited since initial release as I only noticed a few. I would have given 4.5 stars overall if that were possible because of this, but at the same time, I can easily overlook minor mistakes if the story grabs and entertains me, and this series sure did.Nothing appeals to me as much as the passion and love generally shown in M/M romances, and A.E. delivers that. The plot and events has lack of realism sometimes but plenty enjoyable anyway-reading fiction is a little break out of everyday real life, not a mirror of it! The main characters are likable even when they aren't making good decisions. They have their own personalities and aren't cookie cutter characters you could see in any book. The story and plot appeal, plenty of passion, a good balance of light moments and angst. The characters play well off each other, and together sometimes (wink, wink). The sex scenes are the perfect balance of passion and naughtiness for me, explicit without overdoing it or skipping important details either. The sex is intregal but plays well with the romance and both develop well; I don't feel like the sex is the main goal and an author threw in an HEA just to close the book like I have in some other books.All in all, not perfect but pretty dang close. I think there is going to be #6 in the series, but not sure...I'm keeping my eye out. Romance is generally a light, quick, one-and-done read for me, but these I'll be coming back to!

I’ll admit that these books are like eating potato chips. You seriously can’t read just one. They are pretty addictive, hot MC, great secondary characters, lots of action, just all the good things you read MM romance for.Now I come to my HUGE beef with these books. No, it’s not the proofing and grammatical errors that others have pointed out. Though they are there. I can read over them and stay in the story. But this is a series about police and pretty much everything that this author writes about guns is flat out wrong. I read the term automatic, clip, and some of the ridiculous Rambo moves the MCs make with weapons and it whomps me right out of the story. I’ve snarked, it’s a magazine not a clip repeatedly to myself as I’ve read. And yes, there is a difference.If you’re going to write about police who use guns then do some research on guns. Because the lack of research is pretty darned glaring.With that said, I will continue to buy and read everything this author writes because it is a lot of fun. And I can just eye roll at the errors.

I love this book. Just that.I've read it so many times since I got it. I read it when I don't feel like reading anything else.It's just that good. Works for me every time. A. E. Via is in my instant-buy list, she's just golden :)Not even sure why I hadn't review this before. I think it's because I think I won't make it justice... reviews are not really my forte ;PHere you have detectives Day and God. Badasses, smart, intense, hot as hell. Also damaged.But they end up as partners on the job and they heal each other little by little, without even realizing it sometimes. And then they are partners on the job and out. And they are f*cking adorable together. You see the relationship grow deep fast and in a very intense way and it all falls right into place. They belong. And they are HOT together, f*cking hot I tell you xDThere's also a secondary story developing all along in the background and it's funny then it's also sweet and it's always intertwined with Day and God's story and then switches into scorching hot and holy f*ck and again it's just perfect.I laughed, cause Day's mouth can't and won't be contained. I felt tears burning my eyes cause holy sh*t God deserves happiness. And I just felt good all around cause the story is just great and you want to read again right after to let their HEA wash over you again cause it's frakking epic. And then again later for no reason.The story switches POV between Day and God, which I love. Nosy me.You'll love this, I'm sure.And I want to know more about Genesis ^^Enjoy!

I just can't get enough of this book and the entire series. The story of each couple is so engaging and the way A.E Via ties them all together is absolutely fantastic. Give me more!!!

Oh my i absolutly loved this book. It made me cry and that doesnt happen often. I loved God and Day what a couple. Take charge God and smart ass Day. Wow. I am fairly new to this author I loved the promises books but this one touched me in ways that a book hasn't for a long time. I loved the drama the sex scenes and the romance. I loved it all. Going to read the next one now yaay!!!

Finished this for the 2nd time. Absolutely love this series and characters. God and Day are the best, love their relationship and love. A must read.

Hot and sexy Alpha God is a rough and tough cop no one wants to mess it up with. Both together are great, as partners on the streets just like as friends.Only Day knows God that good, he sees his tender side sometimes, only shown to him. They understand each other without words. Just one look says it all.The attraction between them grows and grows till they no longer hide their true feelings for another and become lovers. The forming relationship as lovers is raw, rough and sexy as hell. God knows that only Day can handle him like he truely is and the secrets of his past, because his Partner, friend and lover sees through all shields right into his soul and heart. And as he saved the love of his life, God knows Day is his one and only, he doesn't want to miss in his life anymore. Day himself wants God in his life as well. Their bond is getting stronger and they know they can handle everything as long as they're together. Besides that God would smash everyone who is getting near his true love right into the next wall, so better don't get into his way...A.E. Via just hit it again. I Loved every Minute and word of this book. The rough and raw but kind of tender love between God and Day is sexy and heartwarming. The protective and possessive side of God is sexy and hot, you just wish to have such a dominating Alpha for yourself. you just can't get enough of both hunks. The sex scenes are hot as hell and i read them more than once! And just when these two get company in their bed room by another two sexy guys...no words for that!! Just amazing! You really have to read this awesome story! The rude Alpha with a heart of Gold and his sexy Lover, they will stay in your mind Long after you finished their Story. Maybe we hear again of all of them in the next book(s)?!Thank you A.E. Via for this great Story, it will stay one of my favorites for now!

アトランタ市警の某所轄署の麻薬課がゲイの巣窟と化していくシリーズの一作目。私が読んだのは何年か前ですが、未だに誰もレビューしてないようなので、粗筋や無料サンプルページを読んでちょっと興味を引かれつつ購入を迷われている方への後押しとして、一筆入れておきます。バイキングさながらに金髪の長い髪を靡かせてダウンタウンを闊歩する元海兵隊員の大男(クローゼット）と口達者で料理上手な二枚目(カミングアウト済）の刑事コンビが主人公の本作。まず普通の刑事モノとして事件を追うストーリーがあり、アクションシーンは派手で、エッチシーンにはバリエーションがあり、エンターテイメント性に優れています。金髪長髪大男の方には過去のトラウマやら家族問題もあり、作者はテーマに奥行きを持たせようと頑張ってみた模様。しかし、そのキャラ設定に凝り過ぎて劇画っぽさが際立つ結果に。読者からしたら、そんなに真面目な小説として読ませようとしたってこのキャラじゃ無理、ということです。何はともあれ娯楽としての価値はあり、ハッピーエンドですっきり完結するので星は４つにしました。シリーズものですが、二作目以後は別カップルの話になり、本作の主人公たちは脇キャラとして再登場するシステムです。
