The Cheat Sheet of Italian Style: Confidence and Sustainable Chic in Ten Struts

No lies - I love Italian style. I love the whole concept of la bella figura and the wonderful Italian culture of always looking your best no matter where you are going or what you will be doing. This book is not a "buy these ten items to achieve Italian style" book but a rather philosophical essay of the roots of Italian style, famous icons of Italian style (not the usual ones, either) and how to put yourself in the mindset of enjoying la bella figura in your own life. I especially appreciated the fact that Ms. Belluomini stresses the importance of buying the best that you can reasonably afford and then taking good care of what you have in your closet. By enjoying your clothes and making them your own, she writes, you create your own style, one that makes you feel and look good. Brava for such good advice!

I love Belluomini's simple and sophisticated approach, focused on true PERSONAL style which is almost lost in today's sea of fast-fashion retailers and endless street-style stars. Her tips are key in building the timeless looks that will best represent one's individuality while keeping a close eye on fit and quality AND having fun in the process. This book changed the way I shop and the way I look at my closet, it's full of wonderful little lessons for fashion lovers like me :)

There's some good material here, but be warned: the writer's style is roundabout and philosophical, as opposed to offering targeted, concise guidelines. There were times I really wish she'd get to the point. Another not-so-great: drawings, not photos, and not even many drawings.

Ms. Belluomini will take you by the hand as you learn a few things about Italian fashion. She is honest, confident and has a witty style about her (pun intended). I found her no nonsense manner quite refreshing. This book is loaded with information and helpful tips all stemming from her insight and obvious experience in the fashion world. THANK YOU!

I did not find this book helpful regarding personal and/or Italian style. The author has an annoying prose that makes it a chore to figure out what exactly she is saying; much of the writing is downright silly. A few original illustrations with quotes are included but they don't add up to much. There appears to be a lack of depth in the subject which is odd given the author's "credentials". There are sprinkles of useful advice and interesting tidbits but overall this book is far from a definitive handbook on Italian style.

This little book is witty, well written and chock full of good advice about the innate style Italians posess and others want. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Love this book! I love how it's written -- so approachable and easily. I love the illustrations and especially the interviews. The Italians got it right and Francesca Belluomini really captures the essence of Italian style. She makes it seem simple and attainable.

Just a picture book ...do not waste your cash!

I adored reading this book. Not only is it chock full of awesome fashion tips and lifestyle advice, it's written in a humorous, warm tone that made me feel like I was chatting with Francesca over a cornetto and cappuccino. If you're looking for a read full of Italian flair and high fashion combined with the everyday tips that make it accessible... This is the book you want to pick up!
