Endorsed through and through by two Robos!
I purchased this in a period of despair as my pair of dwarf robos were suffering terribly in a really rubbish cage that I bought from Pets at Home (at the same time as I bought my hamsters - it was on the fly, what can I say?!).I did actually spend a couple of days performing meticulous research. I took into account various points of view, including the fact that a lot of pet owners buy cages that look good (i.e. will fit in with their interior decorations). Many people have criticised the fact that pet owners go for aesthetics over what their pets really need. With all that in mind, I chose this cage. And it does look pretty stylish too (I've only recently seen that you can get it in other colour-ways), but the most important thing is that it ticked all the right boxes. For anyone out there who owns a pair of dwarf hamsters; it really is important to get a cage with more than one level. Like human beings; sometimes your hamsters will just need space apart - some 'alone time'.True, I was a bit worried at first that my 'Little Timmies' would become territorial - one would claim the upper level (which is small but has the cubby-hole) while the other dominated the ground floor. But even if that were the case; at least you have the middle tier to act as neutral ground! It is important, though, to be able to provide each individual with everything it needs. Sometimes there is competition! One of the first things I did was to purchase a silent spinner saucer (because it fits nicely in the cage without taking up lots of room!) - that way each hamster could have their own running apparatus. Thus far, I haven't needed to provide them with a water bottle each (they're happy to share). With regards to the food, I put food in the bowl as well as scatter some around the cage (to make sure that they both get food, as well as to encourage foraging behaviour).Make sure to research thoroughly about keeping a pair of dwarf hamsters! I've owned hamsters before when I was a kid, but they were Syrians (I didn't have them at the same time, obviously). Dwarves were new to me. Just because they're small doesn't mean that they deserve less! This cage is great - even though anything would have been an improvement over the abismal, sorry excuse for a cage that I got from Pets at Home (their own brand of cage no less!!!). Not only was this miles better and sturdier; but it was a whole £10 cheaper too!The included wheel is perhaps a little noisy (I keep the cage in my bedroom - which is not generally recommended as hamsters are nocturnal creatures! - But I could sleep through a nuclear armageddon, what can I say?!). This can easily be rectified by applying some cooking oil (something safe). It has worked like a treat ever since. The cage is also easy to clean - I wouldn't recommend complete dissasembly of all the tiers, as I think that the plastic fittings would wear out and become loose over time. You don't really need to take the tiers apart during cleaning anyway. That said, I am mindful of the ladders - I can see them wearing out since I need to constantly remove and re-attach them during cleaning. Replacements would be cheap anyway.I don't have a problem with my hamsters knawing on the bars. I know that each of my Syrians loved nothing more than to chew through Rotastak cages! But I've provided other little boredom breakers for my hamsters to knaw at!As long as my little boys are happy; I'm happy. So don't take it from me; take the endorsement from two delighted little robo hamsters!

Poor quality meaning pretty much unusable
The catch for the lid broke in no time at all meaning a £10 replacement which we're still waiting for. There are plenty of reviews mentioning that the water bottle leaks and is empty within a couple of hours. You can't use a standard water bottle as they don't fit. So unless you're prepared empty a full water bottle inside the cage every few house you can't use the water bottle and theres no way to fit a standard one.In short, this cage is rubbish - avoid it. Customer service has been non-existant so far. I'll update if that changes.

Great cage but...
Lovely cage. Very spacious. Only reason I gave it 4 stars was due to the fact the bottle it came with leaked out entirely resulting in me having to purchase another and also because it appears that something on the roof is broken.

Looks lovely but useless.
Water bottle leaks constantly. 3x during the first night whole bottle discharged and the whole cage needed to be dried out and changed. Very disruptive for our little guy who was meant to have a quiet time settling in to his new abode. Canāt get a replacement bottle to fit the hole. Avoid!!!!

WONDERFUL!
I don't usually leave reviews but I just couldn't help it this time. This cage is perfect! Sad story actually, my two young cats have always been around all kinds of rodents with no problem, but they have taken a horrible fascination in my new baby gerbils. Without me realising, where the gerbil tails sometimes hung out the bars on their gerbilarium when climbing, my cats had actually bitten and scratched half their tails off which just broke my heart. So something had to be done. This cage is perfect for saving them, the cats can't get to them, they have plenty of space and platforms for running around (although I removed the top one) and it's deep enough they can still burrow if I chuck a mountain of sawdust in there. Not to mention the wheel which they are most pleased with. It arrived in perfect condition and looks really cool, kind of like a space craft. As an experienced small pet owner I give it an A* for gerbils/mice/dwarfs. Though it would be far too cramped for a Syrian so keep that in mind.

Not suitable for ninja hamsters
This is a cautionary tale, gather round.....We have two of these enclosures with two hamsters in. Hamster one is laid back chilled, possibly a zombie and the other, letās call her āKillerā, is not.The two enclosures came four weeks ago. The wheels are incredibly noisy but thatās okay. There is a slight flaw in the design in that your more evil hamster gets underneath the water bottle hole, pushes it up and then climbs through the void. But this is a small issue which can be fixed with and elastic band to make the bottle fit much tighter.I noticed Killer was a little unsettled last week, chewing at part of the enclosure so added more wooden chew sticks, then Tuesday she was making a horrendous gnawing sound.I resigned myself to buying a new bigger cage next day but was surprised to discover she had managed to gnaw a large chunk off the clips keeping the lid on.As Killer is now self aware and out to escape I am seeking a cage that can stop her making off with the dog when I am not looking. In terms of enclosures this one is really only suitable for small sedate hamsters, not ones who are destined to escape and go on a rampage.Other features - really annoying ramps which fall off when cleaning yet manage to make it exceptionally hard to fit base and top together without flicking sawdust onto the floor.Neither hamster deigns to use the sleeping loft. Sedate hamster just flops on the ground floor whereas Killer slept consistently in the wheel. These are high quality enclosures suitable for non felonious rodents. I wish you all the best of luck in your choice of hamster. Have just bought a very large cage for a Killer and hope a small electric fence will not be required to keep her in.
