Good sturdy build
Used this a lot since purchase, nice sturdy build without much bent tin.On and off switches are reliable and positive - had issues with several cheaper brand tools having duff mag-switches.Does rumble around though, so needs screwing down or at least blocking-in

Excellent value BUT
Same as all the other named badged units but better value. The only comment I would make is that the internal fan which is mentioned in the sales listing wouldn't 'blow the skin off a rice pudding' ...... You need a decent dust extractor unit and provide a hose connector to suit your vacuum. It has no connector supplied.Runs smoothly and quietly with a dead flat belt plate. The table on the disc is OK but the mounting system with one small knob is a bit wesk and prone to move in use. It needs a metal knob or a bolt which could be tightened more.Being honest...... It's great really.

Clarke belt disc bench sander
Good strong quality machine, sturdy, easy to set up, my only criticism would be would've preferred a bolt for securing sanding table,Other than that a good addition to my workshop, and good value for the money.

A belter
Strong sturdy belt drive machine. Dust extractor easy to fit. Underside belt guard a bit fiddly if you want to rapidly move through belt grades…. I left it off because I was only using it in the horizontal plane. Could do with hand knurled bolt heads to secure the guard.Stopped the belt by over zealous pressure. Soon got used to what it could do. In use for 2 days. Solidly on for a few hours. Love it!

No thank you
I bought this belt sander so as to have three on a small production line - coarse, medium and fine, the other two being Draper machines that have given years of service. After some light use with a fine belt, we found ourselves unable to prise open the tensioning bar to fit a new belt and it was sent back to Clarke under warranty. It was returned promptly from their workshops, but completely unusable having acquired a drive fault which broke all the decibel records and sounded as if the machine was self-destructing. I insisted on a refund at this point, and a two week standoff occurred with Clarke insisting on my packaging the machine at my own expense. Eventually I gave in and supplied a crate, and ten days later received the refund. It left a nasty taste, because this all caused me great inconvenience and some expense, and at no point was there a hint of an apology or explanation from Clarkes for this poor performance. With sound rivals available, no way will I deal again with Clarke.
