Mexican Oregano - Wild Crushed Leaf (25g)

Using with pinto beans but just keep sniffing the bag as I go by.

Handy to have the authentic ingredient rather than using European oregano as a compromise. I would say Mexican oregano has a unique flavour.Worth having if you cook Mexican food regularly and want to try something a little different.

I much prefer this oregano than the Italian one you get in the shop. It does have the same flavour style, but is more lemony and minty so it is fresher than the usual kind. I sprinkle it over root vegetables before I bake them in the oven; smells and tastes terrific! 25 grams is a lot, it goes a long way!

This came really quickly and was packaged well. It has a very different aroma and taste to European oregano and makes a big difference to the taste of my chilli and chicken tinga recipe. Great product. Gives an authentic Mexican flavour to my recipes.

Has heat ? But lacks usual oregano flavour which I love.

After getting the Chilli Cookbook (Dan May), he suggests you get some Mexican Oregano. Even the international supermarket in my hometown doesn't stock this so I was delighted to buy it at a reasonable cost on here. It has a floral taste, and adds a distinctive layer to your chillis. Worth purchasing if you really like authentic mexican food.
