Gemstone Dig Kit
I got this gem dig set for my Grandson to do as an activity over Holiday break. It came quickly and was packaged neatly. It has the digging and scraping tools as well as some pink safety glasses. The gems are contained within the stone like block. It also includes a magnifying glass for examination of the gems. It is designed to be a self contained activity and I think it is a nice set. The only complaints I have are first that it didn't come with some mat or container to put the block in and break it up. I think we will use a disposable pan for that. The second complaint I would have is that the glasses are pink. I wish it would be a more neutral color. These are not deal breakers of complaints but maybe suggestions to make the kit better. I am curious to see the stones or gems that we will uncover and think this is a great activity for kids. I gave it 5 Stars but I do think that with the few small changes or additions it could be out of this world great! Overall I am happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone wanting some activities that are hands on instead of just playing on their devices.

Messy, but REALLY fun!
When this hit my doorstep today, my kids and I could hardly wait to "dig in"! In the box is a solid chunk of gypsum containing 12 gems, a combo knife and hammer/pick axe, a chisel, a brush, safety glasses, and a magnifying glass. The instructions say to put it on a cleanable surface or piece of paper, so we used a silicone mat. The mat was kind of pointless, because even keeping the gypsum block wet, it gets everywhere. Personally I thought it was still worth it, but that's something you should know. We spent about an hour and a half digging out gems, and it has enough gems that it made a fantastic group activity with four kids from age 4 to 13. I even enjoyed digging out gems myself! The instructions have some weird typos, as did one of the crystal names in the insert, but I felt that overall the instructions were useful and comprehensive. It just lacked proofreading, and for an educational kit this should be improved. The crystal descriptions were different than the standard ones I'm used to. They were accurate, but just in general were culturally different, which I actually thought was pretty neat. It sparked a discussion with the older two kids who have some knowledge of gems and crystals about how cultural differences can change the significance of things, and I felt it added educational value to the kit. Overall, my kids and I really loved doing this activity, and my 6 year old asked if I can buy him his own for his birthday.

SUPER Messy but Super Fun Activity - Do Outside?
This is a large hunk of really tough plaster that comes with 12 stones inside: pyrite, blue agate, pink crystal, white crystal, onyx, white turquoise, green agate, geode, tiger eye, turquoise, amethyst, and alabaster. It is helpful to keep a spray bottle of water handy but even wetting it down this is a super messy activity! Little pieces go flying and dust covers the area. This does make an EXCELLENT OUTDOOR ACTIVITY in nice weather. It can even be shared by three or four children because of the amount of stones inside. It can easily take over an hour of digging. I’m really glad I was able to get this.

Fun and Educational Gemstone Dig Kit
This kit consists of a gypsum block that contains a variety of attractive stones. You wet the block and then carefully scrape away the outer material. The material of the block is not difficult to remove. My daughters enjoyed the hands-on experience of this kit. Once cleaned, the stones are very beautiful. It's fun identifying the different stones. The kit includes safety glasses, a magnifying glass, and a couple of excavating tools. It's a fun activity that your kids will enjoy.

A great way to get the little ones interested in geology
This is an excellent gift for the little ones. I got this for my niece, and she loved digging for the rocks. The best part is that afterward, she wanted to go outside and identify the rocks near our area. The tools are easy to use and can even be used in the real world. The manual also excited her to look more than just the block you get with the kit.I would get this for someone who likes rocks and digging.

Such a cool science experiment for the kids
This is a fun gift for the kids. You get to dig up cool peices of gems, not too big but still pretty. And the excitement of finding them and identifying them is a great experience for them. It comes with a lot and easy to cleanup so that's a win. Overall a great present for the kiddos and a fun experiment.
