Cobra Artists' Watermixable Oils Colour Mixing Set

Great starter set. I am now hooked on the water soluble paints. So nice to clean with water and not need solvents. They behave just like a regular oil paint.

I had for a long time avoided oils because of the fact that they take so long to dry, the requirement to use extra oil and solvents that are often toxic to my health. I grew frustrated with trying the different mediums to use. Watercolor was too transparent and could not layer, acrylic is too tacky and even with mediums, and techniques, had a dull, plastic-like appearance. This really made me feel a lot better getting back into art on my free time, as I don't have much of it working and such. The paints are very smooth, creamy, and blend just like you would expect them to. With these colors, you can virtually mix any color you need. Of course, the watermixable part removes the solvent requirement though I plan on getting the medium and Lukas quick dry so they work similarly to acrylics but with better visual results. *I did run into the issue that these tubes looked somewhat used, and returned due to the impression that the oil from the cyan was separated from the tube initially. It mixed in again but I swished the paint in the tube back and forth and there seems to be no problem, though I would have ticked off a star if it didn't. Lightfast colors. seem to be used for the most lasting of works, which is obvious in an artist grade paint. Overall excellent product.

Had reactions to OMS - even lavender thinner. Headaches within minutes. These quality products have allowed me to enjoy oils again. COBRA is the best and I have tried them all...

Ce produit de couleurs primaires est exactement ce que je cherchait afin de pouvoir mélanger mes couleurs moi-même. L'avantage est qu'en plus d'avoir les qualités de travailler avec de l'huile, il se nettoie à l'eau ce qui facilite son usage. Je suis très satisfaite de ce produit.

I am only giving this product a five star because I received a open box out of amazon warehouse at a good price. I found these paints to be very thin I don’t know if it is because they are water mixable because this is my first water Mixable paint. But I have had a lot of oil paint and these ones are not good.

Quería probar este tipo de óleo soluble al agua, para quitarme los disolventes de una vez, y la verdad es que me ha gustado mucho. La consistencia, resultados y forma de pintar es exactamente igual que el óleo tradicional, simplemente que para limpiar los pinceles no necesitas usar disolventes. Puedes usar los mismos médiums que con el óleo tradicional, liquin, esencia de trementina... y la pintura se comporta exactamente igual. El principal problema que le veo, en este producto concreto, es que los tubos son muy pequeños, no da para mucho, para probarlo... A nivel general que me estoy encontrando con estos óleos al agua es que no hay tanta variedad de pigmentos y cuesta mucho encontrarlos de marcas profesionales. Una pena, porque lo que he probado me ha encantado, el quitar el olor a disolventes del ambiente es un avance tremendo, y los pinceles durarían mucho más si se pudieran limpiar siempre con agua.

I am actually very surprised at how clean and vibrant the secondaries, purple, orange, and green are. Real thought and expertise went into creating the set as far as chroma goes. The only negative would be that the tubes are really small. Not sure if they were a good deal but they ARE a great mixing set. I actually got two blues and no black which was a happy mistake since I didn't want the black anyway.
