Awesome
The media could not be loaded. This is a great turn-based JRPG. Some of the battles can be challenging if you don't have the right party and some situations require a definite strategy to get you through them.....overlevelling for brute force will not work in many cases. A few dungeons are easy to get lost in if you're not paying attention as they are like labyrinths and sometimes have puzzle elements to them. For me, these aren't negatives as I like to think about what I'm doing when playing a video game.Story is good, although it doesn't 'get in the way' as much as some other games that like to take control of the game away from you frequently. With Nocturne, you can be playing for hours before you get a quick scene telling you where to go next to advance the story. The game itself is also really long. I've only played through it once but it took me 50+ hours, unrushed and with minimal grinding.Only negatives for me were the lack of voice acting and the random encounter rate was really high in some places when I just wanted to get from A to B. Other than those, I would definitely give it a thumbs up and recommend.

I have a love hate relationship with this game and you will probably have the same relationship but with yourself if you play it towards its end.The graphics are nice for a ps2 game, not the best but good 3D.No voice acting unfortunately but the music is varied and memorable. Some of the music themes are simply amazing.Gameplay: turn-based but utilises the turn press mechanic in which you gain an extra turn if you attack an enemy's weakness. However, in terms of difficulty spike, it's just brutal and probably intended for hardcore rpg and shin megami tensei fans. Additionally, enemies come at you everywhere even in towns, so there's never a dull moment there.Story: A characteristic feature of shin megami tensei games is that their stories take place in a post-apocalyptic world where you fight and recruit demons for your cause, so no human party members but a huge room for a variety of different strategies and play styles. Throughout the story, you are presented with several philosophies, and you have the option to choose one of them or none. The world of the game feels lonely though and treacherous and the game is just too dark, which is a plus in some people's books. All in all, I would recommend this game to hardcore rpg fans who love challenging gameplay and very dark atmospheres.

Absorbing
This is a great game! - I played it donks ago back when I was finishing high school and loved it. It really absorbing game (I get sucked into it for hours on end), the guys who created this have a HUGE imagination and the software to boot - we Europeans couldn't even dream of inventing up a story like this without it seeming... surreal and childish, and without COPYING off the Asian culture. Yes, you get strong bosses off from the start, if there weren't it wouldn't be any fun - you're supposed to level the character up and have fun mixing and matching that parasite thing you ingurgitate... (Maga.. something). The demons are copy-pasted from the other SMT? you get to see them in full action and not for a few seconds like in Persona (which I also love). I have a feeling that those who don't like this aren't Manga fans or just aren't interested in Japanese RPGs. Overall, very, very good game - I luv it:)

sometimes have trouble getting the game to start, and crashes quite a bit in certain areas due too scratches on the disk. Still playable and have gotten quite far into the game.

Amazing game, but seems to be faulty
Disc appears to be warped, it came wrapped and sealed brand new, but that means after around 20 hours of gameplay it crashes at every single battle. Such a shame because the game is a perfect 10/10 in almost every aspect.

Challenging but fun
Like most games of its kind, it can get a bit frustrating and 'grindy' but the story is intriguing so I'll probably keep coming back to it.

Magnum opus atlus!
Masterpiece! Graphics still hold by today standards, gold gameplay and story. If you still have your ps2 or ps3 fat you must play this game.
