Review: Very good for Yamaha YV105 electric violin. - I have bought a couple of other cheaper wireless pick up / receivers in the past, and I was a bit unsure if this would surpass them in quality. It arrived quickly in a nice box, together with a little cloth carry bag, and a USB cable to charge both (USB C) at the same time, if needed. The units are plastic, and built with a nice sturdy feel, and yet not heavy. They are nicely designed, and even have a little rubber pad on one side, to help guard against any accidental knocks or scrapes. The units arrived already paired, and charged. I plugged them in, and switched them on. The receiver went into my digital mixer, and the sound quality seemed (to me) more full and pleasing than using a cable. As you can see from the picture, the transmitter fits nicely into the violin, in fact it almost seems like they were specially designed for each other! I am yet to take it out on the road, but will do so tomorrow. I don't yet know what the battery life is like, but it's supposed to be about 8 hours use, and 1 hour charge time, which is more than adequate for the average musician. Overall I feel this is a good choice!
Review: Sounds good and is reliable - you get what you pay for - I tried just about every one of the wireless systems under £100 on desertcart and although it's at the top end of the price bracket this was the ONLY one which didn't seem to have any latency issue or adversely affect the sound (was a reasonable match with my cable and my line g10 system. I've gigged it a few of times now and it's worked every time. I've had to turn it off and on again or change the channel a couple of times, but I've never had to go back to the cable. The downsides of this unit are that it's pretty flimsy I feel like if I drop it or step on there's a good chance I could break it (so keep it away from your bass player). It's the biggest of all the units I tried and that combined with the fact that the flexible joint is pretty loose means it can be a bit awkward. It's not too bad with an edge jack socket like a Les Paul but it's a bit clumsy for front sockets like a Strat. If you had one of those upside-down front sockets, it could be annoying. Overall though it's good value for money. Although not a problem to me or unique to this unit, one thing to note/be aware of is that I think these systems are basically buffered. I tried changing the impedance settings on my Helix (just out of interest) and unlike when I'm using a cable it has ZERO effect. As I use a Helix I wasn't testing straight into an amp but I suspect that if you're relying on (or used to) your cable to take off some of your high-end (ALA the Brian May curly wire) then if you switch over to one of these you might get a shock because its basically like using a buffer and a whole load of top end you might not like could appear - but that's not the fault of the unit just a generic buffer behaviour.

These work great out of the box, simply plug and play. Tone is fine and minimal latency (lag) noticeable, if any. No interference experienced. Good product for the price.
