Guardians Of The Galaxy

I love Marvel Movies (well, most of them!) and after watching Guardians of the Galaxy last week, it immediately became one of my favourite movies... Ever! Acting, direction, story... everything was awesome! I normally get very easily distracted in the cinema, but this movie had me hooked from start to finish. The movie excelled at combining serious themes with humour, and the music played a huge part in making this experience possible. The "mixed tape" concept was very well executed and made me really appreciate some songs I had admittedly never heard of before. Cherry Bomb!! And really take me back to the movie scenes when I listen to them now. The main theme is also a classic! All in all, if you enjoyed Guardians, you will love this soundtrack. Cannot wait for the home release of the movie now! 5/5 UPDATE: Okay, I have been listening to the mixed tape now for almost two weeks! The songs really work well with the movie and bring back classic scenes. Groot's dance to "I want you back" was legendary! No wonder the mixed tape has reached no.1 in the charts!

After watching the movie it occurred to me that I had only seen soundtracks of the non theme tyoe musci for this movie. I wanted the actual soundtrack so I set about looking for it. I found this great album that has both. So if you want to dance along to great tracks from 70's and 80's pop and soul music .. if you also want to enjoy the actual soundtrack with character themes and music from key moments of the movie .. this has it. A great soundtrack to our modern day answer to Star Wars. Enjoy ... :)

The first CD is 'Awesome Mix Vol. 1' which is a collection of all of the songs played in the film. I love just about all of them, it's a great celebration of the late 70s- early 80s music scene. The second disc contains a number of different bits of background music from the film plus a couple of amusing bits of dialogue. A lot of it is really good, but not quite of the same awesome musical beauty of some of Hanz Zimmer's best. Still I have to give the overall product 5* as it just makes me smile.

After repeated playings I must admit I skip a few but do listen to them occasionally. Also, film score not the most memorable, play very occasionally. Still find 6 Music the best thing to listen to up to 6 p.m.

Though I may be biased as 80s music is my favourite, this soundtrack is definitely one of the best around. The song choice by James Gunn was excellent, and played extremely well into story. The score by Tyler Bates was also very good, and I very much enjoy listening to it and being reminded of the movie and all of its awesomeness.

I just got back from seeing the film in IMAX 3D and it was worth every penny. I will do a more in-depth review in the DVD section but for now this is just about the Score and Soundtrack. Tyler Bates delivered a fantastic score with touching moments of simplicity to offset his bombastic and powerful scoring for the numerous action sequences, Tyler joins the ranks of Marvel composers and his place is firmly cemented I hope he returns for the already green-lit sequel. Secondly the soundtrack, a perfect choice of hits mostly from the 70s James Gunn and the music supervisor who I believe has been Dave Jordan for all the current Marvel films deserve a big pat on the back for choosing a perfect selection of memorable songs. Marvel has done it again with Guardians of the Galaxy at the cinema and with a double whammy Score and Soundtrack this is a win win for Marvel and music fans again. See the film buy the soundtrack would be my advice!

Xmas present for my 72 year old mum, and she loves it! The cd for the car! 👌🏽 Also excellent buy, of double CD, rather than paying separately for vol 1, and vol2

Arrived promptly, well packaged and thoroughly flippin' loved by my Husband. One of his Birthday pressies that has been pretty much consistantly played ever since. One happy geek ;) All the classics from a fab film, wifey just wants a Baby Groot now...hint hint

Film eccezionale che ho adorato, accompagnato da una colonna sonora memorabile firmata da Tyler Bates. Potente e dirompente nei momenti più dinamici, evocativa ed intensa nell'accompagnare i frangenti più drammatici, per me una delle migliori in assoluto sia nel panorama del Marvel universe che più in generale. Insieme ai soundtrack dell'awesome mix selezionati da James Gunn è praticamente un must.

This is a great combo set for lovers of the film and film music in general. The first disc contains the movie's memorable hit tunes from the seventies (including Hooked on a Feeling, Fooled Around and Fell in Love, Spirit in the Sky, I'm Not in Love, Cherry Bomb, Ain't No Mountain High Enough etc.), while the second disc contains the original score by Tyler Bates. I like Guardians of the Galaxy as it is a cute an entertaining film, but I was more impressed by the use of music, so am grateful to have this double cd set. I wish there were more like this set available for other films. Combining both the film songs and the complete film score is a fabulous idea especially for film music lovers like me. Highly recommended.

FANTASTIC PURCHASE! (Or, as Groot would say: "I AM GROOT!") If you loved Guardians of the Galaxy in the theater then this is the album to purchase! The Deluxe Soundtrack is a two disc set that contains both the soundtrack (aka "Awesome Mix Tape vol 1") as well as Tyler Bates dramatic score. Rather than settle for one album or the other you can own both in one fell swoop for a terrific price. Disc 1: Awesome Mix Tape Vol 1 I don't need to say anymore. This is the album that most movie-goers are going to be familiar with. Songs like "Hooked on a Feeling", "Spirit in the Sky", and "Cherry Bomb" lit up theaters as part of the trailers and are joined by other great hits like "Come and Get Your Love" and "Escape". It's a great collection of songs from the 70's that proves that Peter Quill's mother had great taste in music. Never before has a soundtrack album been integrated so perfectly into a film! Disc 2: The Score by Tyler Bates. Remember "300", "Sucker Punch", and "Watchmen"? That was Tyler Bates. It's a solid score that bounces from dark and brooding to tonally light and comical and back again. Tracks like "Black Tears" bring the Guardians theme to the forefront in a way that makes you wish you were back in the theater again, with a big tub of popcorn watching the crew of the Milano tear it up on the big screen. It's a subtle score in places but I've found that I listen to it as much as the Mix Tape! My only regret is that this wasn't available as an MP3 album and I had to wait a few extra days to get it in the mail.
