Explorer Brown Leather Bush Hat Includes Removable Leather Chin Strap

First the good things - this hat is the only one that I have found that genuinely fit my large 63cm dia head. I tried a couple of others prior to this that claimed to be XXL and none fit 63cm but this one did so there's definitely some value there. Onto the bad points - I feel the product photo's are VERY misleading. The hat received does not match the photo's, is a similar form and shape but a completely different material and different in some key dimensions. I wonder if this is a slightly underhand because the description mentions that "Leather can vary in hue and structure" which is true, but it's even more true when you make your photo item out of a different grade and then use a less appealing grade in the products that are delivered. The main product listing describes the material as a distressed leather, and the product photo's clearly show a matte finish almost suede like appearance, however the item I received has a cheap plasticky high gloss sheen, see my side-by-side photo, and the only distressing seems to be a defect crack/split in the leather from where it was squashed in the shipping box. I was really looking for the matte finish as I really don't like the cheap looking high gloss sheen. You can also see some more subtle difference between the product shots and the item delivered, such as the height of the central hat portion being shorter in the real product, along with the spacing on the three riveted vent holes being different - which leads me to think that this is a different, possibly cost-reduced, batch. I'm glad it fits, but I'm very disappointed the material isn't even close to the product photo in my opinion.

Great hat, surprisingly well made and high quality of materials. I have tried on hats at literally 4 times this price that didn't seem to be of the same quality. I might update after I have worn it in a Peak District Monsoon in November but if it performs as well as it looks then I am pretty confident.The only Downside is I now think I am "Indiana Jones" which doesn't go down well in Tesco when I nip in for a pint of Milk and some Egyptian Artefacts

I'm really impressed with the look of this hat though the press studs that hold the leather decorative band around it stick out more then I would have liked. Not a big deal as they can always be removed if I really want and I may possibly put something else around it of my own to decorate it anyway. The hat fits ok but is just a tiny bit on the loose side, I did measure my head and chose the correct size according to the guidelines but other then that I'm very happy with it. I bought it mainly for if it's raining out anyway so if it can protect against the rain then it will serve it's purpose. Also delivery was only just a few days so that's a bonus. Even though there is a few things I have wrote negatively I still give this 5 stars and would recommend this to anyone. For what you're paying you get a decent quality hat. Just maybe go for the size down that you think you should be.

Finally a great looking hat that fits my gigantic head.This hat is well made and does appear to be made from genuine leather. I say this because I have owned a hat that claimed to be from leather but was a plastic substitute.I really like it. Very impressed.My head measures 61cm. But I purchased the 63cm hat and that was still a squeeze.

My father-in-law is going on holiday to Antigua again. He tasked me with finding him a hat with a nice brim to keep the sun off and protect him in the sudden 'rain showers' out there when you can't see your hand at arm's length; also, a chin strap was highly desirable.He opened this and was immediately overjoyed. The look, features, fit, SPF factor, strap... everything about it was perfect, and getting all that for under £20 was just the (substantial) cherry on top.The only downside he could find was that he didn't have it the last time he went.Very happy recipient; if it was lost or stolen, would buy exactly the same one to replace it; very highly recommended.

As someone with a large head (over 62cm), I find it ridiculously hard to find hats which fit me comfortably. I'm glad to say this one is absolutely up to the job. I bought the XXL size, and it's very comfortable and looks great. I've used it primarily as a sun-hat in fairly hot areas (37+ degrees C), and the brim is wide enough to keep the sun out of my eyes. I've also worn it in the rain and had no problems.

I love this hat. The first I ordered was too large and I had to swap it. The smaller size was also a bit big for me. The second hat had quite a few blemishes and was no where near as good as the first one but this might have been damaged in transit but for less hassle I kept this one. So far its holding up well to regular use.

I nearly bought a Barbour version, but really pleased I didn't. The quality of this hat is excellent and it looks as though it will last a long time. I just hope my husband likes it when he opens it at Christmas!
