Fantasy Fairy Homes: An Adult Coloring Book Full of Whimsical Black Line and Grayscale Images

I read the mixed reviews prior to buying this book and I was hesitant, as I had never heard of (or worked with) black line grayscale. After the first page I was hooked. It has absolutely become my favorite coloring-book style. I plan to buy all the others in the series.Grayscale requires you to color differently than what you usually do….. it’s the blending of color and gray that gets the colors and image to “pop” … it requires you to think about what color will blend well with the gray. The gray gives the picture definition, the color enhances and brings it to life. I have 132 color Prismacolor coloring pencil set, I am not sure I would try this method with a 18 color set. I am not an artist so it really requires me to stretch my color palette and color style. I’m actually surprised at how amazing the finish pictures look. It’s mindful relaxing coloring, not mindless.

Of all my "adult coloring books," this is my favorite. Because of the fanciful illustrations, I feel the freedom to color unconventionally -- for instance, making the treetops some color other than green; coloring the houses bright colors and decorating rooftops, doors, and windows in wild combinations. It's all great fun with these imaginative drawings. They have even made me rethink some conventional house plans I've been compiling for when I build a house in the future. I probably won't build a house that looks like a toad stool or a large pumpkin, but there are definitely some features of these fantasy dwellings that I think could translate into real life, and what would be more fun than living in something like that? Meanwhile, I'm enjoying coloring these images. I particularly like the shading built into the drawings. It means I can use lighter colors in some places and still get artistic "shadow" effects. Again, my favorite among my books.

I quite enjoy fantasy fairy homes and this book delivers quite well. The designs are well done and quite detailed, but they are overall quite dark in color. There is also a great deal of greyscale in the designs and I am not a fan of that. I would rather add my own shading for the designs. The nice thing is that the back of each page is black, so it lessens seeing the bleed through if you are using markers or paints. I bought this book to help me with inspiration to use on my decorated cookies. The paper is not very thick so I would use crayons or colored pencils or something that won't bleed through.

I totally love this product! The imagery depicted is amazing. I bought this adult coloring book as a gift and I'm seriously considering buying another one for myself.As is too often the case, my package was torn wide open and someone had bent/warped it. I'm keeping it weighted, praying it will be suitable to give by Christmas. Amazon, please deliver my packages to where I actually live, not the building next door. UPS and FedEx can find me, but USPS where I live is worse than a bad joke. Thar being said, I highly recommend this product, especially if it is delivered to you in good condition.

I like the concept of this coloring book so much. I don’t mind that the pages are thin, I place a small cardboard piece behind and color with alcohol markers with no problem!BUT. These images are made with an AI generator so the images are not very detailed and get very complicated to color in. I love leaves and was excited to color some fantasy fairy themed leaves but this is not it, gave me a bit of anxiety because I can’t tell things apart in the shrubbery part.A super cute idea; it is something to do but I’d rather pick up something from the dollar store for this exact same quality.

About once I year I have a coloring phase. It's kicked in and I wanted something with cozy vibes. I was a little skeptical looking through it bc there's a lot of greyscale shading already filled in but it's actually that which sets this coloring book apart! The shading leads to an end result that makes it look like you have a deep understanding of light and shadow (I don't).

I will use the lovely pages to inspire clay creations I am hand building. I appreciate that the pages are a good weight. I may color them as well, just because they are so fun to look at.

I decided to return this item for no reason other than it had a lot more grey shading than I wanted. It was clearly labeled and noted in other reviews that the artwork is shadowed, it’s just it was a lot more than I prefer. It shipped well and the paper quality felt great. To be clear, the artwork is STUNNING to look at. However, it’s so detailed that it gives the impression that you’re coloring over a painting that was printed in greyscale- and not like you’re using a coloring book. There’s a good amount of pages to use, but I would have liked a little more diversity in the designs of the houses. I think for some people having similar pages is great because it gives you the opportunity to try out different versions of a similar design, but again, that’s not a feature I’m looking for. At the end of the day, this wasn’t the coloring book for me, but I think it’s got to be a favorite for others out there.

Although the images are beautiful, they are way to dark, to me they are simply uncolorable. There are probably some coloring tools that you can use for such gray tones,but definetely it is not a coloring Book for everyone.

Art is beautiful but again the quality of the paper is a disappointment.Its a coloring book is supose to take pencils or markers or more like watercolor or ink.Please stop doing these to us.Give us a better paper!
