Fabulous fermenting!
My old scooby (from somewhere else) had died (aka. got mouldy) whilst I was away on holiday for a prolonged period, so I got this as a replacement. I've suffered with chronic UTIs and other health issues for a very long time, had tons of antibiotics wreck my intestines for years if not decades, so probiotics are my friend. Making your own Kombucha is a very (!) easy and cheap way to create those healthy probiotics. I make the Kombucha as per instructions (60g brown sugar, 2 tea bags - green and/or black per Litre), leave it for 10 to 14 days to brew. The scooby will produce another scooby every time with each batch, so you can either multiply your brewing operation or use it - like I do - as garden fertiliser. For the latter, I put the scooby in my blender with some water and pour it over my rhubarb, roses and other plants outside. This works really well. As of the kombucha, leave 100ml of the "old" brew as starter liquid with your scooby, pour in the cooled-down new liquid sugar-tea and wait another 10-14 days. The almost-ready "old" batch, I tend to put in the frige with some frozen berries in a bottle (make sure to air regularly or leave the top off, otherwise it might explode.. active ferment and all), and drink over the course of 5 days or so. The berries (strawberries or raspberries, likely works with other fruit too) adds a nice flavour. If you like vinegar, you'll like kombucha. It's not quite like the store bought one, but it seems to make a very positive difference to my overall and skin health. Get brewing! (

Loved it
This is for anyone living in colder climate. It works beautifully, easy to set up - however, the room temp is a big issue. I managed to get several batches during the Summer, but as soon as the temperature dropped under 18*C, the mould appeared and killed the batch. You would need a heat mat, or something else to keep the temperature permanently between 22-24 Celsius which in my home, in the NE England - not a chance. It’s a very gentle little fellow and it does not like the cold. The taste was gorgeous with added fruit. I would definitely brew kombucha again, but the planning would have to include some kinda warming device/box. Still, five stars are deserved. My bad for living in a freezer.

Great Quality SCOBY for Brewing Kombucha
I purchased the 1 X Organic Kombucha Scoby - Live Culture to start brewing my own kombucha, and I’m really pleased with the results. The SCOBY arrived healthy and active, and after following the brewing instructions, my first batch turned out great! The culture was packed well and arrived fresh. It’s easy to use for beginners, and I love that it's organic. The fermentation process went smoothly, and I now have a steady supply of homemade kombucha. Highly recommend this SCOBY for anyone looking to start brewing their own kombucha. Great value and quality!

Soooo thin.....
The scoby arrived in a sealed plastic bag and my first impression was that it was paper thin as it was barely holding its shape and I could vitually see through it. I wondered if it was strong enough for the purpose. This was a far cry from my last starter scoby which was many mahy times thicker. However, I made a 2 ltr batch with it following the enclosed instructions and it turned out well with a still thin, but more robust scoby baby grown. I am now on my second brew and, after only a few days, it looks like the thicker, batch 1 scoby is growing another healthy looking baby already. So, in the end it looks like this is a good enough product to do the job and I have given it 4 stars because of the scare I got when it arrived and having to commit to opening the scarey looking thin thing without being sure of the results but my first batch of kmbucha is good!
