A beast on a budget.
I have had this for a few days now and I am blown away by it.I needed to get a replacement for my GT6 which I have had for years and used at home in line with my Laney amp and more recently also my MacBook for practice and for recording as I just don't have the room for a big pedal board at home and play so many styles. I have just bought a house and had a long holiday so I was really on a budget so this unit really appealed to me along with it's high reviews from other users. It is a real monster. Zoom have packed a lot into this compact package with all of my go to pedals or almost identical alternatives right there in a single unit that can be chained together in whatever order I need and they sound incredible, each have their own settings and levels as you would find on the original.I love the expression pedal and on certain setups it actually sounds better than some of the big expensive well known brands of standalone wah's etc out there. It features a fantastic pre-amp and I have actually been plugging my headphones direct into the pedal output when alone during practice and trying out new things and it is crystal clear even at max volume. The amp models are spot on and all sound as they should. You do need to sit down with it and the manual and user forums open on a computer to figure it all out and find your way around and figure out how best to get the sounds you want, but once you have it then you can get the thing sounding exactly like what you want and very easily. The chromatic tuner works well but my only issue with it is that it doesn't cut the output signal when put into tune mode as most inline tuners do, but its not a deal breaker. When you do hit it in to tune mode it bypasses all effects to give you a clean line through. There is a big community of users out there and there is pretty much a patch for every artist and band you can think of and putting them onto the machine from your computer is easy. The looper is a nice touch. It's not something I have ever used very much but I might start playing around with it.At the end of the day this is a monster pedal setup for a amazingly low price of £49.99 which is less than what just one of the pedals it gives you would cost to buy alone. I have had a few multi fx pedals over the years but this is by far the best and I believe it is also the cheapest!! I do miss my GT6 but don't miss how big the thing was and how much work was involved in lugging it around. Also I never needed 80% of the things that it did and this new piece of kit does everything I need it to and then some.On 4x AA batteries it keeps on going and going (prob 5-7 hours+ of play) and the socket for a PSU is the standard that you have on nearly all other pedals out there. As others have said, it is not really stage ready but it would be fine for small pub gigs etc when you just want to have a few custom patches saved and put in order to use during a set. But it is perfect for home use and practice as well as home recording.I will say this, make sure you use decent quality fully shielded cables. At first I was getting some hum coming through which I thought was down to the unit as I have been using the same cables for years with no noise. But I changed each one out one by one and found that the output cable running to my amp was to blame and I replaced it with a better one I had kicking around and it cleaned it totality up. I don't know if it was just the cable or a combo of using that poorly shielded cable with this pedal but it defiantly produced noise that I never had before. It now sounds perfect. At £50 it sounds to good to be true but it is really really great and I am so happy I bought this unit and look forward to use and explore it more.

Quality Effects at a Bargain Price
Excellent piece of gear with a great range of useful FX. Dead easy to navigate/edit settings and create your own presets. Some of the delays and reverbs are really lush, and all of the fx are musically useful - no gimmicks to show off the technology, even the more dramatic patches could be used (in small doses - maybe an intro section). I can't vouch for the accuracy of most of the amp simulations, having never actually owned a Bogner or Krank for example, but they are all good solid tones - although some of the really high gain models can be a bit noisy/hard to control. But that's like the real thing too :)I use mine for recording, but as an added bonus it's a nice practice tool too. The headphones socket means you can get a good tone without upsetting the wife or neighbours, and the built-in rhythm unit is great for keeping your timing tight and is less boring than a metronome.

Great for practising
I bought this specifically for practising, because; 1. It has a built in 30" looper 2.You can use the drums AND looper together 3. It's cheap 4. It's portable 5. It'll run on batteries, and for a reasonably long time - long enough for a journey. For that purpose, it's great and means I'm doing a lot more practising without the pain of lots of pedals, power supplies, leads, setting up etc. Otherwise it follows the tried and tested Zoom formula - cram in loads of effects for not much money. Of course, this means they are building to a price point, so it's mostly plastic - I could forsee problems with the input and output connections with time, or if you stood on the jack plug. The sounds aren't bad at all - not as good as the digitech equivalents, I'd say, but you can tweak them into useable shape pretty easily. It's a bit noisy though, which means you have to use the noise gate with distortion patches, and I hate noise gates as they mess up the note tails something rotten. For beginner bedroom guitarists or for practice use, this is ideal; for gigs, I'd get something a bit more robust and less noisy.

Great piece of kit.
Believe the hype, this is a cracking piece of kit, can be a little fiddly to get used to, but worth the effort. The looper is superb, and the headphone is amongst the best; it's worth almost all the money just to use as a headphone practise amp. One word of caution though, if your guitar has any hum or setup issues this will hunt them down like a bloodhound!Thoroughly recommend for beginner/intermediate players.

Great guitar effects unit
I'm not a great guitarist but you don't need to be to have good fun with this effects unit. If you have a guitar and a set of headphones you can play for hours without disturbing anyone. Easy to use interface and good instructions makes the G1Xon a really great unit for both amateur and professional use. With or without an amplifier on batteries or adaptor it is a versatile unit. Built in drum machine and a 30 second looper let's you create your own sounds. Excellent value.

Good value, though too noisy if you're fussy.
Great pedal if you're a beginner with a basic amp. Otherwise, it's a bit noisy and a lot of buzz gets generated. I also think the 30 second loop isnt enough. I do think it's worth it though if it doesnt bother you too much since there are plenty of effects, a looper and an expression pedal; you won't find all of that for anywhere near this price anywhere else.
