Value for money: because it works
Cheap and doesn't work is the most expensive you thing you can buy, this grinder is the opposite expensive (for such a simple item) and really works well, this is the RR or Bently of grinders. First impression is it's rather large and heavy but above all it's well engineered, built to a principle not a price. The powder coating finish is a silky black, not matt not gloss - definitely chic Easy to grip with the knurled patterning (expensive to produce I'd guess) and twist and I have to say what an excellent grinder. The settings are easy to change, the grind is effortless and consistent and the pepper is produced in copious quantity, realeasing the aroma and bountiful taste. Theres a base cap too so the post grind detritus stays off the table - and it's sealed with an O ring to keep moisture out - nice design detail. Make a great gift for special friends too, as it's unlikely most won't have anything like this quality on their table.

The best pepper grinder I’ve ever used
I’ve been using this for just under a year now and am still extremely impressed. It’s a solid lump, easy to fill and has even survived a few falls, the tiled floor coming off worse in one incident 😄 As for function, it’s great. Many levels of coarseness adjustment and easy to twist, the twist resulting in a hefty amount of ground pepper being delivered. I mainly use this for making rubs for my smoked meats and it really saves time, with the added bonus that I managed to get the pepper grind size to match the crystal size of my preferred choice of salt brand. Highly recommended and although some may find it expensive, it’s much cheaper than the pepper cannon.

Get it, well worth the price.
This is awesome. I've been using this for 4 months and it's by far the best pepper mill I've ever used. We previously were using a really popular old school pepper mill (all wood etc) and it was just more frustrating than anything to use. This you set it the grind and go, so much easier. It's easier to fill as well as it has two big open holes under the handle cap. High recommend!

Insane value for money compared to the Pepper Cannon
I've been battling with rubbish pepper mills for years and wasted £45 every time on a Peugeot that never ground anything bigger than the smallest peppercorns, then gave up completely. I have been fixated on Peugeot being the name brand in pepper mills, based upon what my parents had in the 70s, but of course the same does not apply half a century later and I'm kicking myself for being so stupid as to think it would. Over £90 binned in eighteen months. I've since properly done my homework and realised that I needed either a Unicorn Magnum Plus or a MannKitchen Pepper Cannon. Sadly the Unicorn, from the USA, is not available at all, and the Pepper Cannon is £200. I was ready to pull the trigger on a Pepper Cannon, but then came across the Luvan, being not only a close replica (apart from the button release top), but actually using the same aerospace grade machined aluminium and 430 stainless steel grade burrs. The price at £59 was too good to overlook. It arrived today. It weighs a ton (539g empty, to be precise) Over half a kilo! The problems I've always had in the past are peppercorns that were too big for grinders. Not any more. This thing chews them up like tree-shredder. The grind adjustment is not notched or numbered, but then neither is the Cannon. Obviously I have no idea if it will last a lifetime, but I suspect it will from what I've felt and tried so far. Most importantly at just £12 more than a useless Peugeot it is insane value, and if it lasts five years it will still be worth it. There now seems to be very little point in spending £200 on the Pepper Cannon, because this is so close. This looks very new to the market and I suspect that when word gets around the price will double, because other Pepper Cannon replicas like the Hex generally sell for around the £130 mark. There is no way that this won't also find its way to that price when word gets around. At £59, this is insanely good value, and I am over the moon. I'm only sorry it's taken years for me to wake up. The build and materials used are such high quality that I honestly don't know how they make any money from this. It's definitely worth more. Let's see if it lasts ten years. Update: 22 August 2024. Over a year and a half of everyday heavy use. It may be that the small amount of play in the turning cap has always been there, or maybe I'm particularly heavy handed, but I can imagine that it is this that will be wearing eventually. It isn't a lot of play, but it isn't as tight as I remember it to be when it was new. I bought one for my son-in-law, who loves it, but doesn't cook every single day as I do, and so his has probably had 15%, if that, of the usage mine has, and his is about the same (I found it in his kitchen and tried it), so it may not be wear, it may just be the way it is. I'm being very picky here, but as the Mannkitchen Pepper Cannon has come down to around £174, I'm eyeing it up. That's totally ridiculous I know, but it's an itch I may have to scratch. The price of the Luvan remains the bargain of the century. I may have to try a Mannkitchen Pepper Cannon before buying, just to see - it may be exactly the same. I may just need to calm down and stop being so ridiculous. Update September 2025: I couldn't help myself and spent £175 on a Mannkitchen Pepper Canon, which I have used now daily for 4 months. My confession to my daughter yesterday is that the Mannkitchen Pepper Canon isn't as good to use as the Luvan, and I now regret spending all that money just to scratch an itch. The base of the Mannkitchen doesn't fit very well and the grind, although very controllable, is not as nice to use. I'm actually going to put the Pepper Canon on eBay and just stay loyal to the Luvan, because it is simply better, irrespective of the price - it's just a better mill to grab and use every day. I feel like an idiot.

Easy Grinder
Excellent. Strong, handles well and grinds pepper easily. Adjustable from fine to coarse and several grades in between. Easy to refill. The perfect grinder and I have tried many. Will probably last a lifetime or two.

Salt has slightly blue tinge to metal.
Great grinder, the only slight downside is the slight blue tinge of the aluminium of the salt grinder. The pepper I'd give 5 stars.

Rolls Royce of pepper grinders
Almost too good...with only a hint of effort pepper is well and truly ground. After many frustrations with my old mill and an unwillingness to pay a premium price for a pepper mill, I finally capitulated...and frankly I was a fool for waiting so long. This is a joy to use, don't hesitate, its worth every penny and I knew it from the first moment. Really well made, absolutely kills it in performance, feels premium and backs up its claims. Great, till it broke.
Worked very well for 2 weeks, but started to fail with the grinder spinning in the body. Took a few days to talk with Philip in China, but once he was on the case he got it sorted out very quickly. I now have an updated version, and its also a brilliant bit of kit. A Pepper Cannon for normal people. A truly powerful grinder that also looks good, and has an impressive throwing weight. Buy it.

Thing is built like a tank, high quality, grinds out salt incredibly fast, the end catch cup is great. Only thing I wish it had was a tighter fitting lid so you can't open the top so easily.

This is the larger version of this salt grinder, intended for kitchen use. It is still the same beautiful, sleek design as the smaller, table top version, but it holds a larger amount of salt and has a removable cup on the bottom to catch the salt after you grind it. This removable cup makes it easy to grind a larger amount of salt and then measure what you need for cooking. This grinder also has multiple different grind sizes so you have the perfect size salt for any meal. Great design!

I love me some (well, heaps) of black pepper, but I usually wouldn't spend much on one. I've tried nice ones before, but they leak out the bottom or are huge or just break so quickly. I bought the "salt" version (the silver one) because it has a ceramic core vs steel, but never intend to put salt in it: it'll always be peppercorns. I can't believe how much is ground in a single turn, and I like it fine like a powder. The bottom captures it and then I can sprinkle it out. It's on somewhat firmly, but for those who find it difficult, physics dictates that you need to break the seal: don't just pull down, but push on an angle and it comes right off no problem. I was very skeptical about spending that much on a pepper mill, but I honestly believe this thing will last forever and for as long as I'll use it, it is just a dream. I'm not sure if there's actually a benefit to using the black version though: the silver one does pepper perfectly well and if I ever choose to, salt or basically any other spice.
