I have a special needs kitty with severe hyperesthesia. I have had him on a rainbow of medications, none of which really addressed the issue without causing him very concerning grogginess. He would fall off stuff at higher doses of Phenobarb. I was afraid he was going to break something. He's older now and we've been battling this (and urinary problems) for 8 years. He has attacked and hissed at his tail, knocked things over, had horrible spasms multiple times a day that spill people's drinks. It's both horribly obnoxious and sad. He freaks out when we come home from work, when we play music, when we're laughing and talking. This poor cat just can't get any peace. He's an awesome cat that just needs help that I haven't been able to provide. I've even tried wrapping him in blankets and holding him and singing to him to get him to calm down.I bought these collars on a whim. The reason I never tried a calming collar on him was because I had a cat long ago that I tried a calming collar on for separation anxiety and he got it caught on his face trying to tear it off. He was stuck in it and ended up having to be rushed to the vet and LOSING TEETH in the incident; he had been caught overnight and I didn't find him distressed until the morning with his jaw caught in the collar. It was awful and all my fault.My current cat has never objected to a collar but it didn't even occur to me to put this on him because of what had happened before so I never left a cat unsupervised in a collar. When I put this on him and he transformed almost overnight into the chillest cat ever, I felt like even more of an idiot. I've put other brand calming collars in his carrier for him but having it ON HIS NECK makes all the difference in the world!!!We are now on our 2nd collar, I had one on him for about a month and I thought, this could be a fluke? Best to wait and see if its really the collar? Sure enough at about 30 days he had a few attacks so I changed his collar and put a new one on. Back to being the chillest cat ever again!I don't know what's in these and frankly I don't care. This collar is a flipping miracle and I'm not just grateful that they come in multipacks, but I am also a guaranteed future purchase, as long as I have my sweet boy who has had his little furry life changed by these easy to use and great smelling little devices. Like, he is so chill and happy, our lives have been appreciably changed for the better in a very real way. It's so obvious and makes so much sense. My cat has always been a bitey little gremlin monster. We think she has some sort of kitty sensory processing disorder and gets sensory overload or something. I have just accepted that it's her personality and the occasional scratches on my hands are the price I pay for enjoying her cuddles, love, and company. However, when one of our other cats passed away a few months ago, she went from being a silly little bitey thing sometimes, to actually genuinely aggressive almost all the time. Our one other cat started having scratches all over his face when we'd come home, when she and he used to be snuggle buddies, and I went from an occasional scratch on my arm to my hands and arms covered in scratches and bites all the time. She seemed genuinely distressed and unhappy, at all hours of the day, as though the loss of our other cat caused some serious mental distress for her, and I felt so bad not knowing how to help. And I couldn't let her beat up our other cat, he's such a sweet boy and never defends himself. We tried feliway diffusers, with no noticeable effect. I got these as a last-ditch effort before asking the vet for medication, completely expecting it to also have no effect, but within TEN SECONDS of putting the collar on her, she was calm, cuddly, and back to her usual self. It was like actual magic.It's been a little while since I purchased these, and she's been wearing her first one the entire time. The package says it lasts for 30 days - today I noticed she was being particularly nasty to me and to our other cat, so I checked how long it had been since I put the first one on her - it's been exactly 35 days! I swapped the old collar for a fresh one, and before I'd even finished putting the new one on her, she was relaxed and calm again!The quality of life improvements these gave our whole household are worth every penny.
