Useful just be careful when using
I actually saw one of these in a Korean cooking show, so I was curious how it performs compared to the electric version. This is all in Japanese fyi, just use Google translate for the little pamphlet with the instructions. But basically you need to put butter on both sides of the pan and/or both slices of bread, and close it, and keep 1min on each side on the flame. You don't need to hold it as long and you manage to put it on a straight position otherwise I can see it slide and risking to burn someone's feet or the floor. Definitely don't leave unsupervised. While it does grill the bread and melt the cheese inside nicely, and is amazingly non stick, be very careful when you open it. I took a star off because as soon as I took it out of the box and opened it the first time, the 2 halves broke apart. Like I had a pan in each hand. And took me a few minutes to find the correct position to hold them to put back together. I almost gave up. And that happened again when I was placing the first sandwich in. I wish it was held together by a screw or something.

Great Way to Make Melts on the Grill
Upon receipt (and a good cleaning) I fired up the gas grill and proceeded to make a burger melt sandwich. I made my burger and placed it between two slices of bread with a slice or two of cheese. I sprayed the two sides of the sandwich maker with vegetable oil and placed my melt in the maker. I placed the maker on the grill for about five minutes each side at a reasonably high temp setting and viola...a burger melt. I know it is advertised for gas stoves, but it works just fine on the gas grill. This bbq tool will get a workout at my house. A great fine at a nice price.

Everything is in Chinese
Love this. It is very durable and the perfect size for a single grilled sandwich. Lucky that it's easy to figure out how to use, though, because the directions and all the wording on the box is in Chinese.

Makes great grilled sandwiches
I have used this on my electric stove and it works great. We mostly use it for grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. It is nice to be able to just flip the pan over to cook the other side. The pan is nonstick and I have not had any of my sandwiches stick in it. The bread browns nicely and the sandwich comes out looking good. This pan/sandwich cooker is made well and seems to be durable. I would recommend this for making sandwiches!

fun
This Hot Sandwich Maker is fun and so easy to use. My 10 year old loves to make his melty hot sandwiches in this maker. The sandwiches come out perfectly crispy on the outside and melty gooey on the inside. This is a wonderful product and i recommend it to everyone.

100 stars.
I can’t believe how much I love this sandwich press. I thought it’d be great to have it but had no idea how often I would be using it. The possibilities are actually endless. So far we’ve made paninis, cheese melts, breakfast sandwiches, have used it several times in one day on different occasions.Cleaning is painfully easy, the metal plates also detach from one another so that’s appreciated greatly for washing. It’s a bit oversized for standard sand which bread so plenty of room. I usually give it about 3 minutes per side and flip as needed for toasting. SO great to have in your kitchen, seriously go for it!

Excellent sandwich maker, very easy to clean
I was a little skeptical that this would make a good hot sandwich, but after using it to make some hot cheesy sandwiches made with some leftover pot roast I have to say, this is a pretty cool kitchen tool! I'm not sure how well it works with American style bread slices, but I regularly buy shokupan (milk bread) from my local Japanese bakery, and I feel like it's a must for a successful hot sandwich with this maker. I usually buy the thin-sliced bread, but I think I will buy the thick cut bread next time to try making a bigger sandwich. A couple things to note:-pay mind to the size of your burner, my stovetop has two burner sizes, the larger one (for big stock pots) is too big for this sandwich maker, it surrounded the maker, and didn't really heat the center of it, even with my moving it around slowly. I ended up using the sandwich maker on my smaller/simmer burner, I just set it to medium and rested the handle to the side- after about 3 minutes on each side, I had golden brown toasty sandwich with melty cheese inside.-Don't put too much oil inside the maker, it will drip out and in the case of my stovetop, leaves grease marks on the burner's gas deflector. Use a minimal amount of oil and definitely sop up as much as possible with a towel.Cleaning the unit is extremely easy, it comes apart and was very easy to hand wash.
