Heart of an Athlete

It's a hit!
Gave this as a gift to a young man (6th grader) in our church receiving sacraments. He's very athletic, popular, and a new Christian. He has mentioned to me several times how much he loves the book. Yay!

Just perfect for my son…
After having so many conversations about God’s plan for his life and how he can use his athletic gifts for God’s glory, I just really wanted something simple that he could read daily to keep him focused on what is important and how he can navigate the ups and downs of disappointment, injuries, etc. He’s a teen and this was a good fit.

Great for my athletic son
I am always searching for a daily devotional book for my teenage son that he will actually read regularly. This is it! He is 17 and plays competitive sports. He has been reading it since I gave it to him. I see it on his bedside table, I see it in his sports bag when he travels, I see it on the kitchen table. He even tells me it is a great book and it's helping him. I highly recommend it!

I bought this for my 14-year-old basketball obsessed athlete son. He is a Christian but he has a difficult time expressing his faith. I thought this would be a great way for him to get into the Word a way that was relevant to him.He is a man of few words so when I asked him what he thought about it he said it was "good."He offered it for or 4 1/2 stars :-)When I asked him to elaborate he said again "it's good."So there's that 😉

This is a great book. I purchased this to have for my 10 year old twin boys who are big into sports. Each night before bed, we read one of these together and then answer the questions and say a prayer. I think it is important to instill Christian values into my children and completing these devotionals with them every night shows my dedication to them as well as to our faith. Some of the stories are a little advances in subject matter for a 10 year old, but we skip over those and will review them as they get older. I still explain them to them if they ask about them, but we focus on the ones that are more applicable to their age range. I can see us using this books for many years to come.

Gifts
I bought two of these for my niece and nephew at Christmas. They are 11 and 13 and both are athletes. They are wonderful children, but it worries me that they do not have the Christian influence/beginning I had as a young child. I just feel kids need to have something to read or a place to find answers if things in their life are not going the way they want. I actually down played the book when they opened it as not to scare them off, but to my surprise, they both have it by their bedside and have told me they are enjoying the short stories. I would recommend this book to any young athlete in your family and tell them to just have it by their bedside in case they want to read something quick and from there...it's in God's hands. When the world gets dark, it helps to have a little light at your fingertips!

FCA Devotional - excellent guide
This book is an excellent guide for devotionals, with thoughtful and provocative questions and further Bible reading references on the given topic. Athletics related stories create familiar environment for application of Biblical preferences. Have given as gift to number of college aged students who later commented that it was a real help and kept them on track with keeping up their personal (vs corporate) relationship.

Gift for My Nephew
This was a Xmas gift for my nephew. He is a good student and a great athlete. His family values their devotion time. Both he and his mother were very pleased when they opened the gift. I know that he will get some great value out of this. I was pleased with his expression and they started reading some pages right away!
